Liked the way Avery shot free throws last night. Late in the game it will be hard to catch Holmes if they get a lead. They keep the ball in the hands of McClendan and Bolden. Very quick and elusive. Shoot very well from the line.

Followed Walter's Tweets last night and was pleasantly surprised to hear the final as well as how well the Birds played. I can't say enough about the heart of those SRs nice to see them come together in a tough gym to play against a Top 3 team in the Region.

I really do wish I could hold my head high when discussing Highlands ball. Went to regional last season with former Holmes player. He kept asking what the heck happened to the Birds program? He pretty much agreed that a team laden with football players was rarely a recipe for success.

I am not close to the HHS program, but assuming what you say is the root cause, CCH hoops went through similar issues in the late '80's, as the football team developed into a late season challenger. In fact, I think 5 of the top 7 of the '87-'88 hoops team didn't report until Dec 1 - roughly 2-3 days before the first game. At any rate, this is about the time the major adjustment began in Park Hills, resulting in a lot of hard feelings, but ultimately, raised the level of the hoops program gradually. I know HHS debunked this theory in the late 90's but, let's face it, Smith and Lorenzen were special athletes. Listerman will find the right guys and turn things around - and he has his pop to lean on when discussing how to develop a program at a school where football looms large. Kevin will attract kids to the program and they will improve. But, as long as HHS keeps winning state titles on the gridiron, kids are gonna want a piece of that pie. So, the FB/BB crossover talent may continue to hang on to both, so as to be part of a state championship. As a CCH fan, it would be fun to see the rivalry in both sports get back to what it can be.

It is. It works because no one is guarding him. It doesn't work with defenders.

 

I'd trust him late in a game where the opponent was fouling.

No need to wait until August for excellence in HHS boys' athletics. While the basketball team goes through a down stretch and put themselves behind the eight ball in the districts, the football team is not the only group excelling.

 

Baseball regional runner up and preseason favorite this spring. Track defending state champions. State champion cross country runner. Regional golf champion. And the defending state champion football team.

 

Keep hating camelman. We don't just wait around for August in Fort Thomas.

If there's a kid who has enough moves to make people look silly and then talk trash it's James Bolden. However, I've never once seen him do it. I've never seen his expression change.
