It will be worth it. Shut the closet door.

As a Cardinal fan I am not going to give anyone any excuse about why this move is ok.

I will say that Bobby has had real good luck with 2nd chance guys while they are at UL. Not one guy Bobby has brought in has gotten into trouble while there.

Lets face it most programs are going to take a chance on guys like this, is it the right thing to do? I can see both sides of the argument.

You make great points, just very risky stuff. Eventually this stuff comes back to bite you. On a more positive note, UofL now trending as favorite for 6'5 WR Devante Peete out of football factory St Thomas Auqinas. That would be a huge get, I love big WRs and he could soften the loss of Parker.

There was a good article out of the CJ that discussed this issue more. I think domestic violence is an automatic no, for me.

I'm all for second chances, but I think a lot of that doesn't matter depending on the crime or the victim. Is someone going to take them? Yeah, they will. Should they? Probably not. I think it's sending the wrong message that if you're good enough at football (or any sport) you can get redeemed for a lot of things. The better you are, the more you can get away with.

I'm not a UofL fan, nor have I ever been and nor will I ever be. But, I just found it funny that they went from using Charlie Strong as a sort of morality beacon and his "core values" thing, to Just Win Baby Bobby.

Disclaimer: I'm okay with some violence in certain situations. If I had players or kids who were being disrespected or worse, I'm okay if they punch that guy in the mouth. But there is a clear and definitive line for me. And it's all or nothing.

Even Strong took Michael Dyer when he thought he could make something out of him.

I think there's something to be said for the notion that when colleges cut these guys loose, it probably does more harm to just send him back out there than to try and get him back on the right track.

I'm all for second chances. I hope it works out; I also hope he's made to understand that his room for error is very small and more is expected of him than the average player now.

Folks Strong took a couple of 2nd chance kids. So it just isnt Bobby.

If he comes in keeps his nose clean then no one will say a word.

If he comes in and gets a parking ticket it will be big news.

Not justifying it for UL. I am 75/25 on this - 75%- No and 25% yes.

Peete committed to the Cardinals this morning.

Not getting overly excited about it as much of what I've read seems to indicate he's going to have trouble qualifying next year. That said, Gerod Holliman was in the same situation and that worked out OK...

This is the one thing I would love for people to talk about more. As I said, I am all for second chances, and I feel that people need to be given chances for redemption.

I'm not one to try and act like I've never made mistakes, and I know everyone here has. When we were all 18-22 as all these players are, would we have wanted to have a permanent label for our mistakes? Not saying that getting into a boozed up frat scuffle or general college mistakes are the same as domestic violence, not even by a long shot. But I do remember a criminology class from college that showed a lot of statistics that most felony and misdemeanor offenders committed their act between the ages of something like 15-25, and that those who were given opportunities for redemption, reparations, or forgiveness had an extremely low rate of re-offending. Those who were cut loose, or left on their own had a much higher rate of recidivism.

I do think the narrative told about these players and coaches also changes based on past events. And, nobody really seems to pay that much attention to the player who comes in after a bad past and doesn't do anything, not even a fart in a history class. It's a really difficult situation for all involved. Because as a coach, you want to win and you also want to equally have a last positive impact on your players, but you're going to be labeled poorly in trying to "save" someone at risk, or with a bad history.

It's a tough situation. Without a doubt.

Is Bobby simply stockpiling kids named Devonte? :)

Glad I read the whole thread before posting, because that's pretty much what I was going to post. :lol2:

If they all play like #9, so be it...

I don't mind if we give guys a second chance, as long as they do what they are supposed to do while they are here.

Explain that to the kid in South Carolina that lost his commitment spot to this guy.
