Think that's weird? They had a guy who quit the team whose last name was Gearlds, just a letter swap.

I don't know how you're doing what you're doing. You have to be exhausted. I've kept the score book in the regional tournament several times in the past and that only 7 games, and it was enough for me.

Monroe was the better team, and deserved the win. Most of the night, the margin was between 11-14.

 

-Monroe County outscored Owen 24-3 from behind the arc, and committed only four turnovers. Those told the tale.

-A couple of times, Owen threatened to make it interesting, and Monroe would answer with a clutch three or a clutch defensive stop.

-Dillon Geralds is a nice player. In addition to his offense, he had three blocks on the defensive end. I think four different guys hit threes for Monroe?

-For Owen, Carson was Carson. Forsee was solid. Guards had an off shooting night, but Monroe had a lot to do with that.

-Now, the tough part of the schedule is coming for Owen...it'll be interesting to see who they have to drop to get to 30 (I think they are scheduled to end with 32 right now). I definitely hope they keep SK, Collins, North, Anderson, and Oldham games, but they still have a district game with Eminence they have to play.

Then one of them told me they were a Geralds too. So of course I asked if she was related to any of them. Nope. So I have no idea what is going on there.

This has to drive scorekeepers nuts at every game. They're bound to make errors when keeping stats.

 

The announcers for the All "A" Classic have been excellent, and amazingly they managed to keep all the Geralds straight with no problem.

Monroe County and Shelby Valley are pretty good sized schools to be in the All A classic. They are in the 43 percentile for size in the state. Monroe is 122 out of 280 schools. Shelby valley is 121.

Some counties have certain names that are common. In Breathitt County it's Turner. In Clay County it's Sizemore. In both those counties it's not uncommon to have many different families with those names and none of them related.
