With the 20th win tonight, the Royals have amassed 20 wins or more 35 times.

Good win tonight for the Royals without Pig Williams. Also a strong showing by the Fieldhouse Krazies.

Never in doubt. Pretty much a 15-20 point game after the middle of the third quarter.

 

Defense and Dorian Henry carry the day for the Royals. Vikings held to a shooting percentage in the mid-20s including 3-23 from distance, led by Graham with 15 and Callahan with 13; while Mason County shoots 20+ fewer shots but hits at a 55% clip, including 4-10 from behind the arc. Dorian Henry with 25 and 9, Ryan Johnson with 10. Dee Johnson did a great job handling the point while Pig Williams rests a shoulder. To this untrained eye, Henry was very effective handling the ball against the Rowan press. A nice luxury to have.

 

Hard to complain too much with a fairly easy wire-to-wire win, but the Royals gave up too many offensive rebounds and free-throw shooting was spotty.

 

Mason County extends their winning streak against the 16th Region to 15 games.

Actually Callahan had 16 and Graham 10 per Mason County stat sheet (Graham had 12 per the score book).

 

Mason County is a tough team...very physical and athletic. Rowan will have to quit playing passive on the offensive end, when playing outside of the region, in order to beat those tougher teams.

Mason County without Pig is pulling away, a win away from The Fieldhouse on Tuesday would even back that up more. I don't think they will have any trouble with Clark at home Friday, will probably be the biggest crowd there to date. That game means more to Clark and if they lay an egg, well. I still think a healthy Augusta and drawing them in district(if they do) may be there toughest test, especially if they breeze thru this upcoming week

Not as good as we have been in the years past, hopefully we can bounce back in the next couple of years. There's some decent teams in the region that could be hot in an instant. Rowan, Boyd, and Elliott...

I agree. The region is very balanced this year and I believe there are 6 or 7 teams that if they are playing well could win it. Boyd beat Rowan but lost to Lewis. Morgan beat Lewis by 17 last night and Morgan lost to East Carter two weeks ago. Elliott plays Rowan on Feb 16th and that should be a good game. Greenup gets hots and plays well they can play with anyone. Same for Raceland. West Carter only lost by 3 to Elliott in the All A tournament. The region is down and it will be a struggle for even their best teams, Rowan, Boyd, and Elliott to win 1 game at Rupp regardless of who they draw. But as a whole, the balance makes for some really good season, district, and regional games.

Agree with you on all counts other than Augusta. They are done - stick a fork in 'em. Mason County will beat them by at least 15 if they meet again. No overlooking them this time. Augusta also hit their high point in the All "A" Region. Sit back and watch.
