January 30, 201511 yr Woman gets snake venom injection instead of Botox | Fox News Injecting a toxin to reduce skin wrinkles isn’t unusual— after all, Botox derives from a toxin. But what one Romanian woman believed to be a similarly harmless treatment turned out to be anything but when she learned she had been injected with snake venom. Racula Crisan, 38, went to a clinic to have Botox injections at the recommendation of plastic surgeon Adrian Oancea, 47. The injections were administered below her eyes and in her lips. Hours later, she was admitted to the hospital for swelling and her face was paralyzed for nearly a year, Central European News (CEN) reported. Crisan has taken Oancea to court claiming, “When he testified, he said he did not actually know what it was that he gave me because he’d ordered it from a Chinese supplier— and the writing was all in Chinese.” Crisan, who lives in the town of Alba-lulia in central Romania, told CEN that the Ministry of Health told her lawyer that the substance is not authorized for use in the country, and a search on the Chinese provider’s website revealed that the product used was viper venom. “My face was paralyzed for about eight months to one year,” Crisan told CEN. “My lacrimal glands [the ones that make tears] were paralyzed, and I had to permanently use pharmaceutical drops. I could not use any facial muscles: I couldn’t laugh, I couldn’t cry. It was terrible.” Now, two years of intensive medical treatment has given Crisan back control of about 70 percent of her facial muscles. Oancea was suspended from the Alba County Hospital but still sees patients privately. Snake venom is used as a wrinkle-reducing treatment, but it is supposed to be put in a cream that’s used on the surface of the skin, not injected, undiluted, into the skin itself, CEN reported. Crisan’s trial started two years ago, but she still awaits a verdict.
January 30, 201511 yr In keeping with the theme of the thread title, aren't high heels a bad idea for woman, and the long term problems they might present to woman's feet, ankles, legs, and back? I could be wrong, and I honestly don't even know how they wear them, and sure it's an attractive sexy look originally designed to prop up a woman's backside to make her look appealing, and perhaps even available (although it eventually just became an attractive look that not always could/should signify availability), but aren't they ultimately potentially damaging themselves all for the sake of looking sexy and attractive? It does seem that many woman after marrying, or aging drop the habit for more comfortable shoes, although more in shape petite woman still might be able to pull if off until a later age. It does seem that with some woman who regularly doll up to go out, and even some aging woman, that it becomes so much apart of their normal look that they wouldn't be caught dead in public in flats, or other various type shoes. Perhaps with some people it never presents a problem, so more power to them if they can do it, but ultimately it just seems like a whole lot of work, and possible suffering, and long term damage all for the sake of presenting a sexy look.
January 30, 201511 yr Author Man, you sincerely crack me up sometimes! And I mean that with nothing but love in my heart. Yes, high heels are probably a bad idea for your feet although I find myself standing up straighter when I wear them. Of course, that throws the girls out there. I'm not sure which is worse, those or the rear. Which one means I'm more available? I need to know that. They are easy to wear but that's just my opinion. I'm not sure what to say about the whole availability angle. To me, that's a borderline "she was asking for it; look at how she's dressed" mentality. Women like to look good and it makes us feel good when we look good. Sometimes it's just about us and has nothing to do with how we look to men. After marrying and aging a bit, I was taking care of children. It's hard to chase children around in high heels. I'm gonna need to know that later age cutoff point too, btw. Finally, sexy is all relative to who's looking at you and what they like. It might be high heels; it might be coveralls and a pair of boots. I can't wear those to work though so I'll stick with the heels sometimes.

I can't wear those to work though so I'll stick with the heels sometimes. It's all good sister. I didn't know that you wore them, and honestly was just speaking in generalities related to high heels themselves, and their potential harm. I personally am no authority on the topic, although once someone coaxed me as a joke to put a pair on, and it was murder. I had to take them off in an instant. Damn, it hurt. I'm not that good on roller blades either. I buy what you're saying, and in my original post disclaimed the availability topic with that it just can be an attractive look that shouldn't necessarily signify availability. I would never want to suggest that all woman wear them to get laid, however I think that some might, or at least do so to increase their chances of attracting a mate. In general though it's been for a long while a style choice that has just become part of a lot of women's look that the availability aim is either secondary or nonexistent, and more so, like you said, makes you stand up straighter, look good, and feel good looking good. I can dig that. As far as sexy being relative, I know that you know who you're talking to, so yeah, I get that for sure. Maybe not coveralls and boots, but perhaps overalls and boots might turn my head....just kidding...sorta....:sssh:... maybe not my exactly my first preference in style, but depending on who's in them...who knows? :lol2: I've seen senior women wearing heels who work them quite well, so if you can do it, do it for as long as you can. It does seem to make the legs look stronger and sexy, and depending on the woman wearing them, in my mind, it can be a nice look. Hell, there's even some guys who can pull off wearing them (I have no idea how). Years ago I took a straight dude friend of mine to a gay bar where on this given night there just happened to be a ton of elegant type drag queens in attendance everywhere dressed to the nines, and of course all were in high heels. He just about went out of his mind, and couldn't believe that these woman were really men. Mind you, we were in our early 20's, and this was his first exposure to such a sight, so he freaked at how sexy they looked. I had to settle him down and ensure him that he was indeed straight, and to not let his visual excitement cause him any identity confusion. He kept saying with disbelief "Those hot chicks are really guys!?"...."Yep"..."That chick's a guy!?"..."Yep"...."Holy Crap...that chick's a guy too!?"...."Yep...they're all guys man, I'm serious". He's now happily married with children, so truthfully this eye opening experience didn't ruin him for life, but he sure got a dose of reality that he never expected to. :lol2: (Let it be known that drag queens are not my thing :lol2:...they can be entertaining, but that's about it). Anyhow, if you like wearing them and wear them well, I certainly won't stand in your way Farrah. I bet that it's a good look on you. Hopefully they never give you any troubles. If you want to know everything there is to know about high heels, vast history included, here's the lowdown. There's a lot that I never knew as well as reference to Persian horseback warriors wearing them in the 9th century helping to keep their feet in the stirrups. Everything imaginable is covered here, even reference to their role in making woman look sexy and erotic, and the various problems they can create. February 2, 201511 yr I'm old and I still wear heels, not 5 inchers, but a good looking style and wedges at times. Actually my feet need 1 1/2 inch heels per my podiatrist. I never wear flats and even wear athletic shoes with a good heel. Wearing a good looking pair of shoes gives me my "power" look and makes me feel good. I'm not looking. Already got the best man.
February 2, 201511 yr I have a question for the ladies. Serious one, do you feel most ladies do all of these things for the benefit of their appearance for men? Or do you think it's done as a competitive thing for other women? Or self esteem because their self worth is tied to their beauty? Or way more complicated than my straight line brain can comprehend?

February 2, 201511 yr Thank goodness that guys can just wear t-shirts and old jeans. All I'm missing is the Chevy truck.
February 2, 201511 yr Can I pick "all of the above"? Sure, that doesn't mean I'll understand any better. But I really didn't expect to. And that's okay.

I'm not a lady but my guess is 25% for men (or their husband or what have you), 25% competitiveness, 50% because they don't want to be the poorly dressed, no fashion sense-having, ugly girl. My girlfriend asks me all of the time what I think of different clothing items, shoes, etc. I tell her every time that I don't really pay attention to any of that stuff unless it's way over the top or obviously unflattering. If it's somewhere in the middle, I have no idea and no opinion. But obviously everything looks great on her :thumb:

You will not win. Here's why: If you say you like it, then the questions will continue and odds are that you are going to have one you don't like sooner or later...then you have to lie to keep from having a bad day. If you are honest, and say you don't like, well obviously your significant other thought it was a good outfit when they put it on, so you are still one down. Do what I do and plead the Fifth. I believe it is every man's right to refuse to answer, because you will absolutely self incriminate on this obvious trap.
