Some cases. Did anyone see the team Pikeville College opened with this year? It was their first year witha team and they were so sad. I talked to Doug and he said Belfry would have beat them easily much less the bigger teams. They couldnt even snap the ball to the punter. But it defintley is a rare thing to see college teams that week.

What? I do not know much about Atlantic College but I still doubt it. Even though Pikeville College beat them 63-0, there are a lot of factors to consider. First off, Pikeville was pretty good this season playing to a two point loss to perrennial power Georgetown College BUT losing BIG to ST. Francis in the NAIA Playoffs. YES! I personally did see Pikeville College play this season. That team was loaded with size and speed. The RB was very fast and strong, ran with reckless abandon. They had a tight end that had to be 6'-7" and could roll. The QB was very fast and a threat to go all the way. Their D-Line was huge and quick as cats. I have experience with high school players as well as small college and DI-DII players on a regular basis. We will never see a matchup for obvious reasons but I will go to my final resting place knowing that the possibility of a top notch high school team beating a college team of any level is very slim to none.

I know we couldn't.

Pikeville didnt play their good guys much this game. It was a sad game. I guess it was were Atlantic was new and stuff they were so bad. I know Trinity or St X would have beat them this year. Pikeville could have beat them 100 points easily.

I could see a premire high school team like a De La Salle or Long Beach Polly beating some D3 and NAIA colleges in football. They could compete with some of the non scholarship schools definatley. What about teams that have a stud on them like Adrian Peterson was his senior year? Do you think a D3 or NAIA could tackle him considering a year later nobody in the Big 12 could tackle him? I say they could beat some D3 schools and possibly some of the weakest D2, but that would be the end of it. No way they could compete with the D1's

Now you are saying that they could beat DIII And NAIA Teamssssss ! You bring up a good point as you mention Adrian Peterson. While he was outstanding as a senior HS player, his entire team would have had to been equally as outstanding to keep the superstar fromm getting destroyed whenever he touched the football. Remember the injuries as a freshman and sophomore he endured because of those physical shortcomings, how about Clarett in his season at Ohio State and the injuries that kept him out of a few games? The amount of speed differences in all positions as well as physical maturity level would be the biggest of obstacles. My only scenario of IFs would be like I said earlier a senior laden team with several TOP DI prospects playing against an upstart program with ONLY true freshmen, no JUCO transfers or redshirts.

I'm done with this argument.:creepy:

Do you really think an entire team could tackle Peterson or Clarett tho? The Big 12 and Big 10 couldn't tackle them one year later. You see D3 teams and NAIA teams that can't tackle backs in thier league all the time, now try putting a stud back in there. Blocking would be more difficult yes, but give Peterson an inch and he can go a mile. They could beat some D3s and NAIA schools. I don't see how physical maturity makes that big a deal. One year is not that massive of a jump. I know alot of people on my NAIA team that say this is a step down from thier high school competition. That is just how I see it tho.

It's Possible with a D3 or NAIA school; but let's be realistic, It's NOT Probable!

I think the powerhouse teams (Colrain 2 yrs ago) would walk over a lot of teams.

Would WALK over A LOT of teams???

Im sorry but they would not walk over alot of teams, they wouldn't even walk over one team! Now they might have been able to beat a real small college, but that would have been a good game too! No way do they just walk over anybody though!!!

Plus you have to take in to consideration what a team like Colerain does to win. A team that can execute the option in high school in dangerous. The option is no longer much for a college program to run as their primary offense. It is very easy to stop if you have athletes, which most kids playing college football certainly are.

Even D3 and NAIA teams have kids who are 22, possibly 23, years old. They have what I call "man" strength. College teams run more varied schemes on both sides of the ball (e.g., zone blitz). You don't see any 155# DB's in college. The college game is much quicker and faster. The reaction times must be faster in colllege. College kids are big at all levels, with the D3 players being shorter than their D2 and D1 counterparts but strong and quick nonetheless. They have been lifting weights for years longer than 15-18 year olds. College teams would wear down high school teams. College players know their system better. The level of contact is much higher and intense in college. Many high school kids would leave the field crying after a few plays. Few colleges need to platoon. A .500 D3 team would thrash any high school team in the country. The worst D3 team might possibly lose on a bad day, but I would not bet on it.
