Do you place more weight on how a team is playing NOW or do you give all games during the season equal weight?

I am still really confused by the love for PRP. No two ways about it. It's almost like you all are sticking with them just because you can't back off of it now because you are afraid of saying that you were wrong about them. I don't think they are that good. Sorry, I just don't see it-- like at all.

 

If you are pointing to the Bryan Station win, then yes, Station is a very good, but they are also very a erratic team. They rely heavily on pressure and turning you over and will have games where they struggle in the half-court, don't shoot the ball well, and/or exhibit questionable shot selection. Teams who press don't like to be pressed, so I can see how PRP would get Station in a one game setting, especially when the game was as early as it was and in Louisville. Station is the kind of team that is just prone to some down games, if you need any evidence of that, look at how Woodford County, who only lost to them by 3, has been playing during the same period.

 

Not sure that the Newport Central Catholic team I watched yesterday is the 8th best in the State.

 

Had a nice convo with someone yesterday who was telling me that they thought Covington Catholic was a lot better than the read that I'd gotten from others on them at Christmas time, and they pointed to a nice win over a team in Ohio that makes me pause on them for awhile.

As I've said previously, no clue nor care where CCH goes in the statewide rankings.

 

Doesn't matter if you guys do or don't. The rankings process would lose integrity if it is changed mid season to appease fans of certain schools.

Some other things I'd add:

 

I'm usually one of the hardest guys on the site when it comes to picking on Mountain teams. I'm a Mountain kid, but usually, I just think they aren't athletic enough on the whole to compete with everyone else in the State. That said, I think that there are solid cases that you could make for Perry County Central and Clay County for the last couple of spots, or at least to put them in the discussion for them.

 

Totally unrelated point, but I think that if you look at what they've done at full-strength (i.e. games from mid-January on), then Dunbar has to be in the running for a top 20 slot. You can throw out most of their early losses when they were playing with numerous kids out. Since they've been playing at full-strength, it's hard to argue with what they've done.
