I am still really confused by the love for PRP. No two ways about it. It's almost like you all are sticking with them just because you can't back off of it now because you are afraid of saying that you were wrong about them. I don't think they are that good. Sorry, I just don't see it-- like at all.

 

The "love" for PRP has been explained as nauseum all season long. They have won and lost at opportune times which has allowed them to stay in the same range they were in when the pre-season rankings are released. PRP has lost twice since these rankings were released so I'm going to predict they fall in the rankings because of who they lost to and how. May even fall all the of the way out. Who knows.

Love the BGP rankings and think they are the best in the business, but I think they just whiffed when it came to putting PRP so high. Lots of mods have been justifying BGP's stance on PRP, and kind of telling posters why they thought they were wrong in the process.

Ok, and I think you were wrong for telling me I was wrong about PRP not being a top 10 team all along, and I think this past week proves it.

 

If the ranking's methodology is what had PRP where they were, then maybe it should be revisited, because it's sort of flawed thinking, and the results kind of show it.

 

I sat and watched PRP with you and RP last year. They lost their three most talented players from that team. Do you remember anyone they had that who'd be coming back that stood out as a player that could carry a top 10 team? Do you know of any transfers or new kids coming out that they had? If the answer to both of those are no, then I don't know why you'd think that there was sufficient justification to rank them there, regardless of their record indicating that they may be a paper tiger.

 

From people who've seen them play, both this year and last, and the amount of posters that have been here criticizing their slot, then that tells you something.

To expound on a point that I made earlier, I don't think NCC is the #8 team in the State. I think that they are a really good team, but I really wonder about their ceiling given that yesterday, it looked as if they play a few kids who are outright dared to take open shots but still pass them up. Against the other top teams, you can't afford to play 4 on 5 offensively, and I think that NCC is often doing that.

Where should they be ranked? Like PRP they started off the season with a good ranking and their rankings after the preseason ranking have shown them fall from #3 to where they are at now.

It's important not to lose sight of that, because I think the "crowdsourcing" aspect of BGP's rankings is one of the things that sets them apart.

 

Here, you have enough people who are devoted enough to the game that they post on here in their free time, so it's kind of hard to ignore when lots of users are all coming to the same conclusions.

Well the logic holds that, in my opinion, where are teams ranked at this juncture in time. I will divulge this much that I know is certain. I can recall fairly clearly one westsider in this very forum arguing why a team with a losing record (Christian Co.) should be ranked in the top 5 even though they lost a few to start the season. They had just went deep into the playoffs in football, and they weren't there yet. However, they ended up cutting down the nets and westsider was right, like he nearly always was. So, it's a two edged sword. As the season progresses, teams change, and I know I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. As for this ranking, to the best of my knowledge, no out of state opponents have ever been used as a measuring stick even with common KY opponents. Never have. Teams from the western end of the state always have games with teams from Illinois, southern teams play Tenn teams, eastern teams play Virginia and WV. Too much to try to analyze to be accurate. Henderson lost to a team from Indiana and I'd be willing to bet at first blush not a soul on this site knows anything about them without the benefit of googling.
