Tell me what Obama's apology tour has accomplished. ISIL/ISIS is running wild, Taliban is surging in Afghanistan, Boko Haram is raping and pillaging in West Africa, Egypt is in turmoil, Libya is in shambles, he is kissing Iran's butt and he thumbs his nose at Israel.

 

Yeah, bang up job he has done with foreign policy. It amazes me how the only come back to Obama's failures is "Well, what about Bush"? Get some new material, please.

Yemen is where most of the GITMO detainees where released with the understanding they would stay in country and be monitored by Yemen authorities.

 

Since Yemen authorities are no more it would seem that the detainees are probably no longer tracked. So that strategy seems to have back-fired.

It is a lack of understanding that some cultures and groups do not share our, what would ideally be, peaceful philosophies. A Muslim terrorist only respects power and might. Any sign of weakness is not an opportunity to negotiate and make peace it is an opportunity to gain ground and further their ideology.

I was one of the young sailors several years ago. Served my country with honor.

 

I'm not a fan of war but sometimes it is necessary. What I admired about our twice elected CIC Bush was he wasn't going to take crap off of some third world country and kiss their butt. He didn't turn his back on the biggest ally we have in the Middle East.

 

If Obama had been in charge on 9/11, he would have refused to call it terrorism. Guess it would have had been work place violence.

Majority of the 9/11 hijackers where Saudis. Why didn't we invade them? Besides, "their butt" could belong to any group of terrorist in the entire planet. We could invade a vast amount of countries off this idea. Iraq has costed us hundreds of billions of dollars. Does fighting an ideology need a vast amount of troops sent to a particular country? I don't think so. So to answer your question, no we don't sit back, but we do need to ask how do we go about it. Our plans so far have failed.

The Saudis allowed Nixon and Fed to move off the 'gold standard in the early 70's. Nixon needed to finance the Vietnam war and the Fed did not want be on the hook to covert dollars into gold per the post WWII agreement that made the US/Fed dollar the reserve currency of the world.

 

The Saudis agreed to force OPEC to accept only US/Fed dollars for payment for oil. This forces oil importing counties to keep lots and lots of US/Fed dollars on hand to pay OPEC for oil. Basically the Saudis help create the petro-dollar and the petro-dollar is why the US/Fed dollar is still the reserve currency in the world.

 

If the Saudis removed or convinced OPEC to allow acceptance of other currencies for payment of oil then the US/Fed dollar would collapse almost overnight - literally. This is because there would be no more reason for countries to hold massive amounts of US/Fed dollars for oil purchases and the market would be flooded with US/Fed dollar securities if countries could purchase oil with their own currency or with gold.

 

Of course a collapsed US/Fed dollar would lead to worldwide economic chaos - thus this pulling the plug on the US/Fed/Petro dollar would be somewhat of Mutually Assured (economic) Destruction (MAD) act.

 

So did the Saudis get a pass - you bet they did. Basically, they control the stability of worldwide economics.

I'm just pointing out the fact that when we want to "kick butt" we could literally invade a multitude of countries when fighting against an ideology and I stand by the notion that we do not need a mass amount of troops sent to a country. It is obvious that we do not have leaders that know how to wage war. We commit troops to a country and leave a power vacuum for people like ISIS to takeover. Then there is the other option, stay for a long time and suck up an immense amount of money. That is what happens when you fight a "global war on terror".
