Owen County by 14,,,the why would be Williams,,,,Augusta just to small..

Both teams will have plenty of time to prepare..

For this reason, Augusta has a legit chance.

Carson Williams is a beast. But Augusta won't back down. Has the makings of a good one.

Pulling for A-Town, but thinking Owen by about 6. Hope I'm wrong!

I''ll be

there cheering you on, Panthers.

I'll predict that this game will have the loudest and best crowd/atmosphere of the day. Augusta is making their first trip and will be well supported, while Owen Co is just 25 miles up the road, and a large portion of Owen Co is employed by state government in Frankfort, and they travel well.

Should be fun.

Owen by 9

Just not familiar with Owen team other than what I have heard about Williams, and that doesn't sound good for Augusta. They play their best when Snapp stays under with Tucker to pound the boards and clog the middle. Tucker cannot challenge Williams by himself. To win Maddox and Crawford have to have solid games with few turnovers. Lately Schrader has been an unguarded surprise as teams have tried to pressure Crawford and limit Maddox touches. This will be a difficult match-up for Augusta. Head says Owen Co. by 10. Heart says Augusta on a last second three. Guarantee if they are close, Hinson will be the best strategists and give them their shot at a win.

Too much Carson Williams for the Panthers in this one.

All ratings.... Cantrall, Lit and Maher(?) have Owen by double figures. Would be awesome to upset Owen and maybe get a little respect from them.

Wouldn't be surprised if Owen doesn't cancel against Grant. They always seem to cancel that road game, but they play them at home???

FYI Owen did make it to the game at Grant and beat them by 3. Despite what many of the Grant Co fans and coach seemed to think, the Rebels looked forward to this game and it was good prep for the All A.

Since the Rebels won the title, they have had 5 games. Coach Duvall will have them ready.

Historically, the 8th Region folks do travel well, even when the tournament was in Richmond. Being closer to Owenton only helps the 6th man grow. Should be a good one. I'll be down to take this one in courtside. Yes Lawnboy, headed your way. Have my seat ready.

Class "A" first round matchup at 6:30 pm on Thursday.

Augusta makes its first trip to the Class "A" and the Panthers have their work cut out for them, with Owen County & Carson Williams as their opponent. Williams was one of 10 players selected to be on last year's All Bluegrass Preps team. Impressive work for a sophomore. As a junior, Williams is averaging 24.9 ppg & 14.3 rpg in leading the Rebels.

Jason Hinson's Panthers boast a trio of juniors who lead the team: guards Connor Maddox and Owens Crawford, along with versatile forward Camryn Snapp. Those kids played in the shadow of Brent Bach for a couple of years and have shown that Bach did not do it all by himself.

I really, really like this matchup and am looking forward to seeing it.

Who advances to the Quarterfinals and why?

I like Augusta in this one. Strength of schedule and experience vs. opponents with bigs. Pretty sure Mason and Campbell would be picks to win big over Owen Co. Augusta had success (but not depth) in competing with these two teams.

I think it will come down to the battle of the guards (williams gets his 24/14) Schrader will have to have a solid performace (shooting well of late) and Tucker will have to produce solid minutes at least 8+ points with the three headed monster producing 45 points or more. holding owen guards will be key. Look for Hinson to staul like always with leads against better opponents. The pen is certainly mightier than the sword here. My gut says Panthers win......., but the likelihood scenarios.....

I say either Owen County by 15+ or Augusta by 5-7 points.

I am going with Augusta..... Heck with the 8th region. Overrated. 10th is strong
