I'm not sure on the names, but I think one was Pratt, and the other was a younger guy. Both were from Hazard. I agree with you, I have seen some HORRIBLE ones, but these two were pretty good. I actually called Mike Melton to let him know they did well, and that I appreciated it.

160 pitch's is a little much. Maybe 125 if that. He had several strike outs during the game. Hazards team should be congradulated they never quit and all most came back to win.

He was as good a pitching prospect as has been around in the mountains in some time. He was 14th region MVP as a junior and had much interest at the next level. Early in his senior year his arm just went "POP" during a game and his career as a pitcher was over. He played some college ball at Morehead and Cumberland, and some Frontier League ball as an outfielder, but potential was never realized. You just can't be too careful with these young arms, and that is the point I believe you were making earlier about Smith's pitch count. I hope someone is listening to your wise old self!

The problem we have is when we pitch Jason Bowling and Robert Smith, we have to put others in their positions. Thomas McIntosh has been doing a great job at short. And when Jason pitches we have a back-up catcher. What killed the Owls in this game was...passed balls..they scored a ton (7 or 8)on passed balls. Unexcusable, and will have to be dealt with. Plus, the backstop at Owsley Couny's "Owls nest" is way too far back from home plate. I am looking on options to fix that problem.

Who said he struck out 15 to 20 hitters, in the second, thrid, and fourth inning he did have strick outs then in fifth and sixth between a few errors and a few walks he had a few more, but not 15 or 20. Thats like he throw 160 pitchs, look at the score book and you can get a pretty good idea of how many pitchs he made, and strick outs. A guy from hazard told Robert that he counted his pitchs and Hazards pitchs and he throw 118 I had a few more but not many more. I guess if you count warm up pitchs he did but I never counted them.

It had better be practiced. If a pitcher cant throw one in the dirt, trying to get the batter to chase one, than it will be a long season for any team. IMO, I beleive pass balls by a High School Cather is ridiculous, a great pitcher can look like the worst with a bad catcher.
