I tried to watch a little of the video but had to stop. That game is a painful memory of how referees can decide the outcome of big games like this. Wooden had annonunced his retirement and the officials were not going to have him lose this last championship opportunity.

 

According to Grevey, he let Wooden know his feelings at one of the coach's book signings years later. Wooden didn't like his comments at all and told him, "Your team should have played better defense." He disliked Grevey so much after that incident that he once refused to go on a sports talk show because Grevey was going to be there too.

Wooden was a "piece of work" that few knew about then but have since uncovered. :thumb:

Cats "should" win big in this one, but who knows. UCLA may not be a great team, but they'll be amped up for it (or at least should be) and if we don't play with intensity they could hang around for a while. Still don't think they have the horses to run with us though even if we start slow, but they could make it interesting at least. Then again, if Willie keeps playing like he has of late, it could get real ugly.

Gets the best of us sometimes.
