King George III gave most of the property to the British government, so the government would have to pay for everything including the upkeep. Even the Crown Jewels are loaned back to the royals when needed. All of that art work? Belongs to the government now. How much is the White House worth? A sitting president can't sell it, same thing here. And how much money do we pay each year to run the WH and so the president can do all the the things he does?
December 11, 201411 yr Exactly. The Queen was put on an allowance long ago. Make no mistake, they have plenty of private holdings. That tax money goes to pay for their official duties. Prince Charles has started and owns a number of private companies, several of which turn a healthy profit. The Queen has about $450 million in private assets. LeBron might have more... but it ain't by much.
