Eric Holder..."unconscious bias" makes all cops racists

Joker nobody cares about Gladwells "Blink" or what he thinks....any idiot can write a book, that's been proven. Holder is a stone cold idiot who cannot leave quick enough with his partner in crime Obama. I seriously think they have tried to tear this country apart at the seams. This is the same MO as the Arab Spring movement two years ago that swept the Muslim countries in the Middle East. Something to think about boys..........

You know Archie, yes, I would most definitely agree that any idiot can write anything.

See, Gladwell though, he writes things that probably go a little above that. He's been on this list you've probably never heard of called, but it's called the New York Times' Best Sellers' List. He's done that five times, but I'm sure you knew that though.

Based on your posts, I'm going to bet that you were probably one of the first people to read Outliers and criticize his conclusions as being oversimplifications, have pointed out how other scientific studies suggest that he's misrepresenting data, heck you probably even use your own linear regression models to disprove some things he mistakenly assumes as correlated.

Let me guess, even Freakonomics is probably way too main stream for you. Pssshhtt, who hasn't read that-- like 10 years ago?

Oh yea, "Sharia Law!".

And Joker just because someone writes a book and it makes the New York Times best seller list does not necessarily make it the 100% truth. Surely you dont want me to list some of these best sellers do you?

Doesn't mean that he's wrong about it. Just means that people see him and shut out the message or believe the exact opposite when there's lots of science that would indicate that they are actually the ones ignorant on the issue.

Again, this is coming from someone who isn't a fan of Holder. People can think whatever about him, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's wrong about that.

I know. That's why I agreed with your post. I'm not saying he is wrong. I'm saying he is too dumb to word it properly and he is so polarizing that even if he worded it properly the message would be lost because he is so hated. His lack of awareness of his perception hurts him when he says things like this. That or he just doesn't care what people think or say about him and he just says whatever for the heck of it. That's reckless also.

So, lets go the other way...if there is an "unconscious bias" in cops that can at times affect their interaction with people in particular with blacks, than how about the "unconscious bias", or heck, the overtly CONSCIOUS bias some blacks seem to have with law enforcement? I mean, if it works one way, it works the other as well, right? How does that play a part in interactions between the two? I'd say it can a pretty bad effect when looking at the Michael Brown case in particular.

If a LEO works a neighborhood with a high black male crime rate and is on alert when approached or encountering a black male in said neighborhood, is that a bias or awareness?

If a LEO works a trailer park with a high white male crime rate and is on alert when approached or encountering a white male in said trailer park, is that a bias or awareness?

I get that not every black male in the neighborhood or white male in the trailer park are criminals, but if there's a high crime rate a LEO can't enter with his guard down. That's the neighborhood/trailer park's problem, not the LEO's.

And Joker just because someone writes a book and it makes the New York Times best seller list does not necessarily make it the 100% truth. Surely you dont want me to list some of these best sellers do you?

Yes, please list all the people who've had 5 or more NY Times Best Sellers that are all untruthful.

Also, what were your problems with the research methodology that Gladwell used in Blink? Please, be specific (i.e., meaning you say something more than "I don't care" or the assumption that "no one cares").

Wasn't there a story out this week about him plagiarising some of his work? Is this the same guy that wrote Tipping Point?

Accused, yes, but those accusations also came from bloggers "CrushingBort" and "BlippoBlappo", who've accused a various number of entities of the same.

Thats exactly what I was talking about Joker. Who says what these guys say are not the truth? They are as credible as the Ferguson witnesses who said Mike Brown had his hands up, even more so credible, they have not been proven to be liars like those people were and you defended them, so it does not surprise me you would defend this guy.....SMH.

Wilson was only "accused" of shooting Mike Brown. Since you seem to be a poster child for justice for this writer and it seems like someone would have to have facts to convict him of something as petty in the scheme of wrongful acts to the human race, and yet if I go back and read what you said about Darren Wilson.........I mean really do you expect me to take anything you say on here without bias?

No offense, but I expect you to try and find fault in everything I say if you are questioning the credentials of a well renowned writer from the New Yorker whose written 5 books that've been New York Times Best Sellers and uses a research study from a major academic instution to prove a point that's pretty widely accepted in the academic world as is, so it's all good.

You were the one saying "anyone can write anything". I think there's more truth in saying that anyone can accuse someone else of anything. I can say that George Washington is my biological father, but that doesn't mean it's true.

Trust me, I'm not a Holder fan. My first post here even begins by saying that.

Also to add here, though it is a bit of a tangent: the reason people are dying to bust Gladwell for plagarism: he's written and spoke out heavily against plagarism.

For someone to be able to affirmatively link him to it would be a huge boost to their career.
