Let me explain.

We are also getting a seperate grass field. This will also be a multipurpose field. There was talk of putting the track around it, instead of the football/soccer turf field. They opted to put the track around the new turf stadium, instead of the altermate field. I think watching a game of any kind is better without a track around the field. Just my opinion.

Is the grass field you mention going to be the practice field?

I'm sure it will be a practice field as such, but should be very nice and due to it's location, drainage should not be much of an issue. I would assume that they will use both surfaces and primarily use the turf when it is available. From what I've seen, there will be three ball fields, a practice soccer/football field and a turf stadium to go along with the two gymnasiums.

Have they changed the plans of the drawing in the gym? It shows 1 baseball field, 1 softball field, 1 grass area for football, soccer, and track & field practice, and 1 new stadium with track.

The softball field will be where Caywood used to stand, the baseball field will be placed up by Kenton Lands Road and on the old school board grounds, the football stadium will be twisted to a 45 degree angle in relation to Dixie Highway, and the grass practice field will be situated between the baseball field and the football field, which would basically be the upper parking lot area now.

Is this grass field going to be "up above" the old football field?

They may have changed it, but it used to have two ball fields where you describe one. Other than that, what you describe is the way I saw it. It wouldn't surprise me if they scaled it back to one ball field in the upper lot.

It'll basically be where the upper parking lot is behind the football stands.

I was told the school board voted down to turf the field.Anyone heard different?

No they havent voted yet. Look for a vote at the end of the month but from what some people who would know are saying that its pretty much a done deal and will get a vote of approval.

Lots of changes are gonna be made other than the turf down there too. They are gonna put stuff up and make it hard for people to watch the game from outside the stadium forcing people to actually go in an watch the game.

They are putting in a new scoreboard also, and look for NCC's rent to go up considerably.

BTW - There is no stands, no field, no nothing now. Just alot of dirt and heavy equipment moving it around. They are also laying down a level of pee gravel for drainage it looks like. The entire area from the old caywood to KFC looks to be the same level. The upper lot is dramatically higher, ( as it always has been, but seems even moreso without the old stands.) At the rate they are going, it's possible they'll be ready for opening day, that is if they don't have too much down time between phases of construction. They are working solely on the lower area of the complex where the football field will be from what I've seen..

I drove by last night, but it was too dark to see. I see no reason why it can't be done by the first game of the season. There's not much leveling that needs to be done where the field is going to be placed. They've got 4 months left to complete, and it's the summer months. So, there shouldn't be too many weather issues once we get halfway through May.

Normal beauracracy I'm sure. It will also have a track around the field. (Something I don't like  ). It may be done before the Highlands game, or not. The official target is for the second home game which will be in week five, as Dixie has an opening home game, then two road games, and then a bye week. It is possible that it will be ready in week one, just not probable at this point.

Dixie - has never had a track, great news for "All" who have suffered over the years. Finally they will practice and conduct Meets at Dixie. My understanding the track will be "Red" with 8 lines. Hopefully this will also include Regionals - yes you hear me right - Regionals at Dixie, what a great idea, after all these's years.

32, if its not completed in time for your first home game, Highlands will rent you their field (we have an away game the first week) and you can play your game at Highlands:banana: Yeah, that's a great idea.

I have some strange feeling that Dixie will look elsewhere to play their first game if the fields not ready. :p

Heck, there are two other choices north on Dixie Highway.

Which I'm sure will be their first couple choices. Highlands will most likely be their last resort.
