UL still had a timeout. If they wanted to run up the score they would have used it.

Of course it was a jerk move, Petrino is jerk and low life. It was completely expected. Surprised he didn't call the time out. That said, I don't blame him for it, after the back and forth all day it is what it is. I fully expect Kentucky to do the same if given the opportunity in the future.

UK's quarterback numbers have been pretty bad lately, particularity today. The numbers were pretty good earlier in the year. Did they change coordinators midseason?

 

 

As you say, Patrick's numbers are less impressive than the first half of the season. I just wonder if that has more to do with opposing teams "figuring out" how to defend against him by watching games he played earlier in the season? This is more a question than an assertion.

 

Does that same theory hold for how UK's defense was playing well when Bonafon (who UK had obviously scouted) but when Bolin comes in (who they probably knew very little of), UK's defense looked lost. Again, more asking than stating. To the contrary, UofL's offensive line seemed to "regroup" and protect the QB better so that may have helped Bolin also.

Deuce, I have to agree with jahearme. Petrino ran that play to be a jerk, it's just who he is. If he's your coach you defend it, if he isn't you don't. And by "you" I don't mean you specifically just in general. Hal Mumme was the same way at UK and I liked it. I liked Demarcus Cousins because he played for UK, if he played for Louisville I would hate him.

If there was no intent to score why run it at all. The running back didn't fall down he was tackled, if nobody hits him I guarantee you he would have crossed the goalline. If UK had called a timeout I think UL runs another play. Just my opinion.

The explaination for Towles drop off is strength of the opponent. To me it's really that simple.

I didn't have a problem with it simply based on the pre-game situation. It was a stupid move though because they could have fumbled.

 

I agree with you, not a very smart move at all. Ninety-nine percent of coaches would have been in the victory formation in that same situation, especially considering the defense had already scored twice.
