Thanksgiving Day Practice

Players (and, coaches).

If any of your are reading this before you head to bed tonight and/or before you head out to practice tomorrow morning; what you have already accomplished thus far will last you a lifetime of memories, but tomorrow....Thanksgiving Day 2014 will be one of those days that as the years go by, you will remember every little detail.

Tomorrow morning will seem a little more special. Practice will be just that much more enjoyable & most of all; Thanksgiving Dinner(s) will that much more meaningful.

Everything about tomorrow is something to cherish for now, and something that won't ever let you settle for ANYTHING less (if you are a returning player for the next three years, coach or have plans to coach after your playing days are over). Once you get a taste of tomorrow....once you get a taste of Friday? Nothing else will measure up and 'practicing on Thanksgiving Day or bust' will be mentality you'll have for the rest of your lives.

Amidst all of those emotions and feelings, within all of the 'Wow. We are really practicing on Thanksgiving Day excitement' you're expected to get better; and you will. So, while you are obviously working towards to the future (Friday night and hopefully the state finals)...take a step back, a deep breath and take in the "precious present". You've made your school, your community and most importantly...your families all VERY proud. Enjoy every moment of it.

Best of luck to all playing Friday night and everybody have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Agree. A LOT of teams probably wish they were practicing today.

I'm always glad when this thread pops up. It gives me one more chance to re-live the glory days. Thanksgiving practice was the day before the state championship my senior year. I remember thinking it was pretty cool that only 10 teams in the state were practicing that day. Still a cool memory.

I saw a Dixie mom this morning and talked to her about her son getting to practice today. Told her it's a great thing and will be a great memory for her boy.

Great story. I am in Raceland's locker room as I type, getting ready for the team breakfast followed by our walk thru practice. Second year in a row and I think our kids are not wanting this streak to end.

At Dixie now watching practice. Prolly 100 - 150 parents and alum to support the boys of fall!

That's cool.

One of my favorite days of the year. I'm typing this as I watch Coopers practice. We have a tradition where we feed the coaches and players breakfast in the cafeteria before their practice. The cold can't keep us away.

Best at of luck to all the boys who will be playing tomorrow night.

Mi can't help but think about those Dixie Colonels either today. I wish everyone the best of luck but I can't help but smile thinking of the seniors at Dixie and how special this must be for them.

I felt very emotional this morning. My boy just got back in town for the first time since August and he couldn't wait to get to practice and meet his old team. Coach Borchers asked him to address the team before they hit the field today, makes everything sink in that the players represent so much more than their current teammates but the entire Cooper family, past present and future.

And nobody should ever take it for Granted...it is something you deserve because of the hard work and countless hrs put into this great game of football by everyone involved to help your program get to this point in the season...its not something you are entitled to...Just sayin :thumb:

Pay attention to Dixie, they are finally getting it...Good luck to the Redboys:thumb:

It was great having a Turkey Day practice again in Ft. Mitchell after a one year hiatus. There was a big turnout supporting the Tigers.

Our "practice" was good...but it was great getting to hear our guys state what they were thankful for prior to our team meal...and getting to have my own family there for it as well.
