Of course it's the same rankings system that has teams ranked ahead of other teams they've lost to, sometimes twice. :idunno:

Newport's above NCC and NCC beat Newport twice. Walton Verona is above Newport and Newport beat them twice. :idunno:

 

And NewCaths non district schedule was much much tougher than than nothing of theirs...

How about Class A? 1-4 remain. The "perfect" semi-state round!

According to these rankings, Mayfield would be the favorite to win 1a, 2a, 3a and 5a and would be the favorite to represent the west in 4a.. Pretty impressive.

 

Mayfield is one point away from a perfect season this year so far and beat a 5A and 2A team representing in the playoffs still. (Graves and Murray)...been a great year again.

It is impressive. And I thought the Cardinals were supposed to be in a rebuilding mode this year...

Programs like Mayfield reload, not rebuild. The rhetoric from the Cards faithful at the beginning of the year was flavored around that they were young and talented and maybe they would have to wait a year. Well the kids are alright and they grew up pretty fast into another powerful unit. I would have expected nothing else from our friends from the West who seem quite confident now that they will take some more hardware. I can hardly fault them from feeling that way. Whatever happens under the lights tonight at McNabb the Cards have earned my utmost respect. As Mayfield readies for the move to 2A next year I am reminded of Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. There are those relatives that you look forward to seeing once a year and once you do you are glad to see them leave. If they do not come back next year though things will not seem the same. Kudos to you Cards for setting the 1A bar so high. Good luck to both teams tonight and Go Tigers!
