I'm okay with the Braves dealing. It's not worked with what they've done so they're building for the future

Might as well rebuild then. Freeman, Simmons, Kimbrel and Teheran are probably the only ones they won't be willing to deal.

I just read an article that says Heyward might command a deal around 10 years $200 million when he hits free agency. If that's true, it's probably a good thing the Braves traded him. No way they could get anywhere close to that.

That's basically what I just said :lol2:

I read it somewhere that basically the only untouchables are the top 3 pitchers, Kimbrel, Freeman, Simmons.

Who would actually pay him $20m a year? That's insane.

He's one of the best outfielders in the game especially when you consider how good he is defensively. He's only 25...

For 2015, Steamer projects him at +4.5 WAR per 600 plate appearances, the 16th highest total of any position player in baseball, and that’s with him grading out as just a slightly above average defender:

...

Steamer expects Heyward to be as good (or slightly better than) the good Upton, Matt Kemp, Ryan Braun, or Hanley Ramirez. If you combine the offensive level of those players with above average defensive value, well, you’re left with a superstar.

No Teheran???

I'd guess he's one of their top 3 pitchers wouldn't you?

I believe its gonna work out for the Braves. Sucks because I liked Heyward as a fan but it's a smart baseball move. I think the Braves should trade Justin Upton if they can get some good talent in return.

Definitely don't want to see Gattis in LF so I hope they trade him.

I just hope BJ Upton is gone by next year. Any way it has to happen.

With 3 years/$45 million left on his contract, that's what most likely will happen. We might see teams get a bit more interested if he has a better year next season and the fact that teams will only have to pay for 2 years of that big contract.

Shelby Miller was deemed tradeable because he's not a workhorse. Often got lifted after running out of gas in sixth inning. Joe Kelly (traded to Red Sox) was similar in that regard as a starter. Carlos Martinez or Marco Gonzalez will take Miller's spot in rotation, to go with Wainwright, Wacha, Lynn and Lackey. Cards GM isn't afraid to jettison salary to "rent" a player for a year -- Lackey and Heyward.
