I get that and don't disagree but let's be honest thats garbage for grown men to get on here and carry on about. At the end of the day it's high school kids lining up across from other high school kids that matters. I'm just wondering if others ( not the handful of northern ky posters whose only purpose in life is to get on here and bash matney) think JC has the same talent level as those teams.

 

As who? Highlands and CovCath?

 

Heck ya those kids are very talented and gifted athletes...they are just undercoached and ultimately they underachieve because of the level of competition they play each yr and the amount of garbage that is instilled in them all yr long.

 

Not the kids fault at all and nobody is doggin them or calling them out on here...:thumb:

Highlands did the exact same thing tonite against Ashland...

Hard to say. They're so one-dimensional that it makes it difficult to judge. No real stud on this years team, which is what has allowed them to stay close in the past. This was a really banged up CovCath team in enemy territory on a cold night. Seems like a lot played into JC's hands, but they still came up short. I'd say they're close. I think they handle a lot of good teams in NKY, just not CovCath and Highlands.

 

I think this is my thoughts as well. I believe the talent level is getting better and better each year but not quiet on par with CovCath or Highlands. I honestly think id be having ever grade school and middle school team in the county do nothing but pass the ball to start developing young QBs.

Undercoached? JC has to make the best out of the players within their school like everyone else does. Heck, they only had 7 seniors on the team! This is a very young JC team from all accounts, and I'm not trying to make an excuse for them because from the sounds of it they could have won the game, but they should not be on the same level as a team with well over 100 players in their program like a Cov Cath or Highlands. Too much depth and the ability to platoon is crucial at this level. However, I saw from another site that defensively they allowed 12pts tonight and started 6 sophomores and a freshman. I don't think coaching is the issue, to have a team play a team as well as they did should be a testament to it. They didn't get the breaks and the Colonels made plays when it mattered the most.

I do. And if you were on Highlands filed tonight after the game, you would have heard the players very excited about playing the Colonels. Because they also know they are good. The emotion I saw after tonight's HHS game about next weeks game speaks volumes. And they say it's not a rivalry. Ha!

Yeah, they've ridden those coattails to six state championships in a relatively short history.

Congratulations to Covington Catholic on the win. The key I thought was that CCH made the big plays when necessary to sustain drives in 3rd down situations. 3rd and 6, they get 7. 3rd and 8, they get 9. Overall it was a fun game and I wish both teams remaining from Region 4 to represent us well the rest of the way. Reading through some of these posts is sickening though. Like RiverRat said, many of these kids will get on here and read the comments posted by grown men trouncing everything that they have done. It was a fun ride for all of us associated with the program. Heck many predicted with it being a rebuilding year for JC to be 6-4 and a second place finish in the district. These young men exceeded those expectations and I congratulate each of them. But as the game ended, I saw the heart ache on the players faces as we said goodbye to our group of seniors and our 5 senior starters. They went above and beyond everything that they were asked and represented their school well during their time. No we didn't have the ending that we wanted but rarely does anyone. Someone has to win and someone has to lose, that is life. Tonight just wasn't our night and we lost to a very respectable opponent. After two drubbings by CCH and to field a team with over half of its starters never playing a down in a playoff game until this year, I can keep my head high as should they. So in conclusion, I tip my hat to CCH and wish them well the rest of the way. All of those that chose to make the long journey to Eagle Field, safe travels home.
