November 17, 201411 yr So I tell my little girl she can cheer after she cries and really wants to and doesnt want to play basketball or soccer, just cheer. yeah Im the father and I will let her since she wants to because its her choice and life to see if she likes it. I wont make my kids play or quit if they want to do something. If my kids enjoy playing then Im letting them. Mountain ref, I am not saying that she should not cheer. I am saying that as the father of a young child, you have to guide her and not just "let her do whatever she wants". Last time I checked, kids and teens make some pretty bad decisions and need guidance. I have no problem with a parent letting their kid play football. No, you shouldn't us it because it's stupid. Driving is a necessity of our world, playing football is not. I'm not going to let me kids have a motorcycle. Does that make me a bad parent? Just because there are things that we have to do in our everyday world that are have some level of risk doesn't mean we should do things that aren't necessary and add another layer of risk for injury or death.
