Every year around this time we hear the same old crying. Why is such and such in the playoffs when they are 0-10? Why does everyone get a participation trophy? Why don't we have a super class? Why? Why? Why?

Seriously people, what are you whining about and why are you whining? OMG....I have to wait a whole extra week for the game I wanted to see.

 

OMG.....how come the Super District 4 seed has to play our not-good-enough 1 seed team in the first round?

 

OMG.....how many running clocks were there in the first round of the playoffs?

 

OMG.....Ohio has 1,394 schools playing in the state and only 12 make the playoffs. Texas has 3,456 schools and only 6 make the playoffs. Why do 192 from KY make the playoffs? Why can't we be like them?

 

 

Seriously folks, I could write a novel on why the state of KY does what it does and why I love it. Who cares if we have 6 classes with 6 state champions? Who cares? Play ball!!! Sure some classes may be watered down but at the end of the day does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? The playoffs aren't about any of us. It's about the kids playing and their classmates. I'd love for there to be 3 or 4 classes and a much easier way to prove how good Bowling Green is but this is the system we have and at the end of the day there are 1.) more winners than losers and 2.) much more football to watch.

Truthfully, no matter what classification or playoff system we have, there will be people who don't like it. But I do enjoy the discussions about it, and apparently many others do, too.

C'mon PP92, this subject is like "should Pete Rose be in the Hall of Fame"?? It has to be discussed ad nauseam every year. It's like death and taxes - discussing it will happen:)!!

 

I have said my peace on it and won't lose any sleep over it either way...

 

More interested in LSU/Bama and OSU/MSU right now...I think OSU may be playing themselves into the playoff discussion right now...

Who complained in the old four class system other then 4A schools not named Trinity and St. X?

I think some people still wanted just two teams from each district to advance in the old four class system, but the furor was far, far less than this.

Actually, the last vote had three options, and if I remember correctly, the majority was split between the two options not in place currently allowing the third option (the current format) to win. So, the majority were against it.

And, surprisingly, the perennial powers were the most dominate programs to vote for the four team format, while the teams that struggle voted for three and two teams.

When looking at the logic I underatand why they all voted like they did.

 

 

When you know you're going to get your head beat in in round one or you're going to show up with 14 players it become an exercise of futility.

 

When you know you can rest 25-50% of your team and still get a running clock you're going to want to get as much extra rest as possible.
