A lot of these kids on teams that are 3rd or 4th seed, I've heard some of the parents from these schools talk about it also. They know they will get pounded and on suing a far superior team. A report from the Beechwood thread said that some of the opponents were falling down just so they wouldn't get hit.

 

Injuries is one thing during the season, injuries in a game that you know you will get blown out and that you have no chance at all at winning, and it will be your last game. During the regular season, outside of district games, these teams schedule teams that may be ok or a little good, but not great.

Yet some were falling down before having to get hit? Hope if anyone does poll these kids it's a private poll.

Ok, how about no running clock? Only allowed to use your first team the first three quarters, and whatever happens happens?

 

These scores don't even begin to tell the whole story as over 1/3 of the games had a running clock, many of those games had the running clock in the first quarter and 2nd and 3rd teams playing the 2nd quarter and beyond.

I've seen a couple, I'm a Highlands fan. I have seen teams warm up before the game, play hard and lose by 70. I don't remember one ever quitting or laying down. Highlands won a state championship game 56-7, about the same as Beechwood/Bracken Co. How can that problem be solved?

There is no comparison between a Highlands state championship game that ended 56-7 and a 14 man team taking on a 65 man team in the first round of the playoffs where the running clock started after a 36 point lead.

 

You need to get out and see some of these 1A and 2A games between the 1 seed and 4 seed and you might be shocked at what you see.

Where are these proponents of safety in a regular season? Mccreary had to play Corbin , Bell, and Wayne. Nobody was crying for those guys. Everybody in the state has somebody on their schedule they will struggle to compete with. Play the game learn from it.

IMHO it is a perfect comparison. A lopsided score is lopsided score be it in the first round or the championship game. Roster size is important, but I also watched the Birds win a state championship in the Duffy era with a team size of about 25.

Three teams with #1 seed getting a BYE solves the 1 versus 4 games where one team is hopelessly matched up with a team they have no business playing.

 

Do you really think Highlands beating a team in the state final 56-7 is the same as what happened in the Beechwood game last night? If so you need to get the video of each game and you will see they are in no way similar.

But since the brilliant guys running KHSAA will never reduce classes in football, we are stuck with too many ridiculous lopsided playoff games...

To be fair, the high school coaches and athletic directors are the ones that are responsible for this system, they voted for it, repeatedly.

This is who should make the decision not we message board quarterbacks.

Serious question for all the posters on here that are OK with the 6 class football system. Are you OK with all the other sports in KY not having more than one class? I think 6 classes in football is WAY too many and I think 1 class in the other sports is WAY to few.

1000% this. 4 classes in football 2 minimum in all others.

Would be a real travel nightmare due to more than one game a week for roundball sports
