Coaching Changes....

Featured Replies

Not sure what NCC's policy is on it but with a son as an incoming freshman next fall you would think they'd want to avoid all the trappings that come with a parent coach at the high school level but it may not matter. It has been done successfully other places.

Like at the Higlands girls level..........talk amongst yourselves.

Ps......the first sign of Spring.....GP has emerged from hibernation........

OTB... your coaching services will not be needed at NCC.

They have hired a coach... maybe I should say, actually promoted one from within.

Yellow card is correct, the email was sent out today. Freshman coach was promoted at Ncc. From y understanding he is an alumni.......

I have no axe to grind with Coach McD. The entire point of my post is that NCC now has the time to conduct a proper job search for the next head coach. NCC is a great community and has a strong administration. I am hopeful they find a head coach that wants, and knows how, to run a program. Like I said before the next head coach will have great support and a great tradition to work with. Coach McDonald's dismissal had nothing to do with parents complaining about playing time.

How did that proper search pan out for you? Didn't get the guy you wanted did you.

It's funny how things work, I guess you should have left good enough alone.

I didn't really have a "guy" in mind but there was NO proper search. I question what "good enough" even means. Do you mean leaving the Head Coach position unfilled?, because the previous coach was let go. They will have a great role model in the head coaching position now. That trumps a lot of other things. Flops&Hacks, you'll have to rake some muck elsewhere.

Mr. Martin certainly appears to be a good role model and a stand up guy. Hopefully for the sake of the program he has gained a lot of knowledge of soccer, how to maximize the kids to their potential and an understanding of positioning. The fear here is that NCC panicked that they weren't going to find someone highly qualified and quickly settled for a former alum that at a minimum had some knowledge of the program.

I don't see any reference to his being a former or current player in adult leagues nor any coaching certifications/training in the notice of hire so I guess we will have to wait and see what kind of soccer guy he turns out to be. People may not have liked "big mike" but he was a winner and obviously knows the game.

Any other openings still yet to fill? Did the coach at Scott ever determine if he is returning next year?

A few weeks ago, I was told that he would not be coaching at Scott next year, still watching for an "official" announcement.

His decision or the schools?

You can add Boone County to the "Needing a Coach" list. Nathan Browning announced his resignation to the boys on Friday. Parents received an email, as well.

That leaves Boone County with zero boys' soccer coaches as the JV coach and Freshman coach each had already decided not to come back next year. We knew about them right after the season was over. Now we also need a Head Coach.

I believe the girls coach at boone has coached high school boys soccer before, maybe he will move to boys......

This information is not correct. Coach Anderson is now and will continue to be the head boy's soccer Coach for Scott High School. This information was obtained today and was told directly to me by Coach Anderson.

Soccerforlife - It sounds like I got bad info, or he had a change of heart. Either way, it sounds like he is still going to be leading the soccer program at Scott... if he has the support of the Administration, Parents, and Students then it appears that he is a good fit, I wish you well this coming season.

Before you make all kind of judgments on this coaching change and "NCC parents", might you first consider whether you're assumptions are correct in that he got "ran off by parents?"

I would argue your assumption is entirely incorrect. Consider that, for a second.
