Beechwood 30 Newport Central Catholic 13

Tigers just had one bad quarter, as Rash said they let their guard down and the D stopped wrapping. Other than the 60 yarder, Smith was pretty well contained. Other 21 carries for 90 yards, that's pretty acceptable against that kid. Sitting in my living room watching, I never felt game was in doubt

First, you big wuss! :-)

Maybe it was the cold, but when NCC got the BW fumble on their own 40 late in 2nd quarter with 3 time outs I thought they had plenty of time to score. They mismanaged the clock and took all 3 timeouts to the lockeroom. Then coming out to start the 3rd they drove to the BW 40 and fumbled on 3rd down. They were in the game!!! BW scored 2 plays later to make it 27-13. Even if NCC doesn't convert on the fumbled 3rd down they would have either gone for in on 4th or possibly pinned BW deep in their own territory. The game was still in play then.

Beechwood obviously prepared for Newcath for 3 weeks. They don't need to prepare for their district games. They were calling the offensive sets before NCC ran a play and shifting to the side of the line the ball was going to. That's all coaching and preparation. NCC offense is so predictable. What happened to #2 for Newcath. He was a huge part of the offense in the beginning of the year and now is non existant. It's a one man show and its going to bite them in the butt in a couple weeks. Need to use #23, #2 and #4. Very disappointing to say the least. Also defensively they need to get the hell out of the 4-3 stupid defense and get back to running a 4-4 like they did when they won state titles. Wake up coaches its past the time to make changes!

Because the Breds have been focused on that brutal Brossart, Lloyd and Holy Cross stretch.

Lol

:deadhorse:

Thank you. Obviously there were some issues tonight but NCC put theirselves in good field position tonight several times but couldn't capitalize. Praying for good news with Enslens injury..

What the hell is Enslen doing in the game with 1 1/2 minutes remaining in a meaningless game that you are losing by 17 points?

Guilty as charged, lol. Gonna be out in the cold all night tonight rooting on my nephew and the Illini, can only handle one night. I get your point, but I just felt BW was the superior team and would win it. Much more well rounded. Was concerned about NCC ability to get the edge again. Tigers better shore that up, or Mayfield would crush them.

This will be only the 2nd time since 2000 that a NewCath team will not reach 10 or more wins.........the only other year was the 2009 campaign when they went 7-6, losing to DeSales in the Regional Finals.

Good question, especially when there were a few seniors that didn't see any play.

I was at the game this evening, always had the upmost respect for the way NCC runs their programs. They are a couple Pangallo's and a Sanfoss short this year. No. 3 has some great moves tonight!

I find that really funny.. Must been going through the dead period about a decade and a half ago... ;)

Didn't make the game, but it sounds like BWs running game is going to be ok if Studer doesn't return. Great job O Line. From the update thread and in-person game reports, sounds like Stringer was running hard. Great job Tigers. Keep it up. I do not want to make the call to the hotel in BG to cancel the reservation I made after the Franklin County game.

Also, since I'm so critical of coaches on this area, I will say great job on refocusing them after the bad second quarter. As I was taking the kids Trick-or-treating and reading the update thread, I was having terrible flashbacks of NCC kicking the wheels of the bus. Even teams with lots of talent will have set backs against good competition. Righting the ship and getting back on track is how you keep moving.

Looking forward to the playoffs.

You could say that about every game they had this year. You could also make a claim of why even practice this time of year because players get hurt there also. Injury's are a part of the game no matter when they happen. You play your starters more time than not this time of year to stay sharp even if it doesn't mean anything. I heard his injury will not keep him out this coming week, but I doubt they will need to many starters playing against Trimble County. Even so, you still play your first team to keep momentum. Next man up!

Glad to hear the young man will be ok, with that being said, what went wrong just before half with the momentum on the breds side 3 timeouts left at mid field plenty of time to make something happen and you just let the clock run out? :no:Is it because the OC didn't know what to call or no faith in the offense I'm thinking OC? C'mon man.

How far will BREDS make it this year? anyone!!!!!!

IMHO, they at least make the Regional finals, whether they win that game depends on myriad of things.
