Nasty Sprained Ankle

Featured Replies

I will fully admit that I was one of those guys that thought athletes should just suck it up and play through a sprained ankle. Well, I guess I never truly had one, until now. Was playing bball last night, and someone got under my feet as I was coming down for a jumpshot and the result was the worst pain ever, even worse than when I tore my ACL.

This picture is from about an hour later. It's even worse now and soon will start having some awful bruising. In the doc's best medical terms, "that sure is a dousey".

I guess they grade the sprain on a scale of 1-3. Doc said mine was a 3+. I jokingly put on Twitter last night, that I don't know how Kerri Strug did what she did. Man it hurts.

Damn dude that looks broke. Did they do an X-ray??

One of the worst pains I've ever felt was a sprained ankle.

Yeah, did an x-ray this morning. No break. Just one of the nastiest sprains that you can have apparently.

Is it a "high ankle sprain"?

I think the doctor said it was basically both a high ankle sprain and a low one combined, if that's even possible.

Walking boot until at least Nov. 20th. Crutches and the boot combined for at least a week.

I can't put any weight on it at all without the boot. Tough sledding man. Hurts just laying here.

I'd never seen one before but seeing yours it definitely makes sense why it is called that. Damn dawg, even Brett Favre said that's a brutal sprain.

I'm with the doc that's the worse Ive seen I had torn ligaments in my ankle once pulled down a rebound and landed on someone foot and all I heard was a pop and my foot went parallel to my leg it was brutal pain and my whole ankle and heel was black and blue for a month. Crutches but no boot. It was pre boot days. Lol. Hope it's a speedy recovery and glad it isn't broke :thumb:

Been there bud, it sucks nothing you can do but let it heal.

BTW can you get me a beer, lol.

Dr's will tell you many times that sometimes a badly sprained ankle can be worse than a broken ankle.

It amazes me that I was a four sport Varsity letterman in high school. A few injuries, but nothing serious. Played every intramural sport imagineable in college pickup ball constantly. And my two worse injuries (this and ACL tear) come from playing in a "scrimmage" flag football game" and then small, non important bball game.

I'll get you guys another fun picture once my ankle starts looking like rainbow sherbet.
