Yeah a pretty young, talented one that will play the Bluebirds next year. Good measuring stick for the Jags next year when they open up the year with HHS. But as far as this year goes, Highlands is number 1 until it is proven they should not be. I think the Bluebirds have to be the favorite in 4A this year again.

The most beautiful thing about this discussion is that it will all be answered within the next 6 weeks. i know that is a while to wait, but in due time the best team will shine. Good luck to all teams that made the playoffs as they prepare for the new season.

I saw 2013 St. X pretty close up. They were AWFUL on defense and by the time they played mighty Moeller, they were missing at least one of their best backs...who BG knocked out.

 

I saw both play, I was being generous to BG. You really should quit looking south and head north to watch some football. It will open your eyes.

2. It is comical to think that the talent and speed of the game north of TN is anywhere close to what it is south of there. the coaching and traditions may match up...but player for player, you are living on Mars if you think their is any comparison what-so-ever. It is not even close.

I don't think you have even the slightest understanding of the type of football played in the south. But there isn't going to be anybody that will change your mind, so why try lol. BG may or may not have defeated Moeller in 2013, you and I both don't know who would have taken the W, so be generous to BG and Moeller and save the opinionated comparison.

If as in south you mean Alabama, Florida, and primarily South Carolina (southeast, let's exclude Texas) then sure. Louisiana's solid as well, but Ohio's better than probably Alabama and South Carolina in my opinion (backed up statistically pretty well.) Most years, I'd put Texas, Florida, and Ohio in the same league. Crazy atmosphere, stud athletes, not much more you can ask for.

As I don't think you have any idea how good Moeller was last year. It's all opinions on here, if we didn't voice them there would be no BGP. You are correct that you won't convince me that BG would have stayed close to Moeller last year.

Outside of UK and Vandy, the SEC is winning with kids and rosters predominantly from their home states. The SEC is so far ahead of the Big 10 (12?) that any comparison is silly.

 

Ohio does have a wealth of talent and tradition. The atmospheres of the powers in Ohio is unreal. But head to head, the southern 150 miles of Florida by itself has as much if not more takent than the whole state of Ohio. Mississippi and Miss. St. ain't winning with rosters built on kids from up north. Regardless of the state south of TN, the high end talent just isn't the same.

To use your argument, you didn't see it. BG was up like 39-10 before putting in their JV.

Trinity one year is the only KY team who could play with the elite of OH on a regular basis.

 

Last year Maxpreps ranked OH 4th behind TX, FL and CA. TN was ranked 9th. So we're talking about the best team in the 4th ranked state vs the ? ranked teams in the 9th ranked state who both gave BG all they could handle.

 

It would have been ugly.
