Pretty even IMO...last nights game was never in doubt. Highlands has beaten 1 good team and had to come from behind to do it. I would think Owensboro will attract a few more votes in the AP poll now...last week they had 2.

 

Owensboro played with a lead over BG most of the game and Highlands was besieged in the 1st half vs. Columbus and Elder was never in doubt. Highlands also had to come from behind to beat Station. Owensboro has Road wins. Vs highly ranked Madisonville, Ocath and Warren Central.

Bowling Green and the FL school Highlands played are both ranked around 220 according to MaxPreps. Elder is ranked around 166. One of Highlands losses is better then Owensboro's lone loss. Not both. Plus Owensboro was never down 20+ points against BG. Highlands has a great tradition but THIS YEAR they don't have a better resume then Owensboro IMO.

 

Never ever ever rely on National Rankings to make decisions. Ask people that know football and saw both Christopher Columbus (FL) and Elder (OH) play this year.

 

We have skewed sense in KY of what constitutes national level high school football. Trinity had a couple of teams recently in that class, no one else in recent memory has even been close and that includes Highlands and Bowling Green.

 

If you are still following me, and not wearing Bluebird or Purple glasses, throw the National Rankings out and look at the teams involved.

Who has Owensboro beat that is any good?

 

I was looking for a signature win for Owensboro, the only team that would fall into that category is a 2 point win against a 6-3 Warren Central team. While OHS played BG tough, it can not be a signature win because obviously they didn't win. Just sayin!

I respectfully disagree...the 2013 BG team was a national-level contender. they were huge up front on O, had tremendous depth, were playing almost all returning starters, had a phenomenal QB, and had a super star WR paired with top of the line skill players, had exceptional speed, and a very stout D. I think they would have beaten every team in Ohio in '13, as well as all but a slim few south of here.

And for the record, I would call 2013 Bowling Green a regional power, not a national level contender but either way the important question is what would 2013 BG do to 2014 Oboro?

I have not seen Owensboro in person. I heard they have a nice team, but don't think they would do very well against either of them. A loss to BG and a close win against a 6-3 Warren Central team leaves me thinking running clock in both games. JMO

 

CC was up 28 -7 at halftime at HHS and Elder was up 35-7 at halftime. If Owensboro doesn't platoon, it would be a very long night for the Owensboro D.

They also would not have been within 21. Blackman was nowhere near 2013 Moeller.

We'll there wasn't a running clock vs the 2013 Owensboro team vs BG. The 2014 team is much better at Owensboro and has a great offensive line in 2014. I haven't seen a team that could stop Owensboro's offense this year. I doubt Highlands D can, as they haven't stopped a good team yet. Owensboro has a very good QB this year as well.

Owensboro #1 as they have been all year in my book.
