Outside of UK and Vandy, the SEC is winning with kids and rosters predominantly from their home states. The SEC is so far ahead of the Big 10 (12?) that any comparison is silly.

 

Ohio does have a wealth of talent and tradition. The atmospheres of the powers in Ohio is unreal. But head to head, the southern 150 miles of Florida by itself has as much if not more takent than the whole state of Ohio. Mississippi and Miss. St. ain't winning with rosters built on kids from up north. Regardless of the state south of TN, the high end talent just isn't the same.

 

What does this have to do w individual teams?

I give up...I'm off to drink with UKfan...go Highlands...Ohio football is awesome...Maybe Cincinnati will annex you all up there so you can really be "Ohio proud".

 

...oh, and just one more fact for you all to ignore and bush aside in the wake of your beloved Ohio and Moeller...Mighty Moe has played two teams from states that I would call "southern" (TN, SC, AL, GA, MS, AR, LA, FL) since 2005...they're 0-2.

 

2006, lost to a 11-2 Byrnes (SC) team 20-21

2008, lost to a 10-2 MBA (TN) team 6-21

 

...but hey, I'm sure they were just saving up their energy to play all that much stiffer competition in Ohio.

So you hand pick seasons Moeller went 5-5 and 6-5 for your example(s). Ok. How about St X. defeating Prattvile (AL) in the 2008 season. Prattville's only loss, and they were ranked ninth nationally. St. X defeated prestigious Don Bosco Prep (NJ) that year as well. In 2013 St. X defeated Brentwood Academy (TN) 23-0. That same Brentwood team defeated a McCallie team that BG struggled with by 23. So let's think about that first.

That was a simple statement to understand. Brentwood defeated McCallie by 23. Bowling Green defeated McCallie 40-36.

This is stupid. Some poster says come north and references Cincinnati only. Other posters bring in the whole confederacy. Again. Apples to apples. School to school.

Guru I simply used a ranking to show how the "national media" view the teams. Since Bowling Green,Elder,& C. Columbus don't actually play it's really all we have to go off of. I actually was at the Trinity @ Bowling Green game the year Dawkins,Quick,etc played for Trinity....Trinity was lucky to get out of there with the win. (And yes I realize Trinity was without their starting QB too) Plus I've seen my share of GCL & GMC games....big time games....I was raised on Pat Mancuso football.
