To keep me from having to search threads can someone detail points scored by Ryle this year. Seems like they always score a lot.

 

 

It would seem the new high school coach would want the frosh to work on developing the passing game.

I can see how one would think this is a possibility. I even thought this might be the case as well. But earlier in the game the kicker was kicking the ball down field very consistently. The kicker was also making extra points with little to no trouble. As we all know, even a bad squib kick is typically going to at least make it to the second level of the return team. These two kicks were directly at the first level of the return team and obviously kicked to not go more than 10 yards. The negative reaction that was easily heard from many of the Ryle fans of the onside kicks was even obvious. Like I said, different teams have different approaches...

 

On a side note, Ryle does probably have one of the best kickers I have seen at the freshman level this year.

 

Is the 8th grader kicking for Ryle now?

I'm pretty sure they have been above 45 points in every game and several games above 50.

Fine job by the Raiders last night. If you appreciate a great running game like I do, then you need to see Ryle play. They simply line up and tell you where they're going to run it and dare you to stop it. Seemed like they had maybe four or five plays total in their playbook last night. On a negative note for the Raiders, I would have liked to seen a little more class out of the coaching staff for the Raiders. Two onside kicks in the fourth quarter up 30 points is absurd anyway you write it up. And then the head coach taking pictures of the scoreboard after the game... Come on man!

Taking a picture of the scoreboard is harmless...relax. Maybe he just wanted a memory of the game or maybe he just has a bad memory.

As a parent on last years team, I think they are developing the players. Last year they had a very good freshman QB and threw the ball about 45% of the time. This year I have been to a few games and they have a big line and talented RB's, why not play to your strength? The QB this year is doing great gaining more confidence every game. I am not sure how this group of kids did last year but it is my understanding they have played a lot of football together. Also the freshman staff have not lost a game in two years. They are developing players attitudes that say we know we can beat you. Can you stop us? The kicking comments here are ridiculous, all year they are kicking it hard on the ground to prevent a long return, so I get it its not that much fun to watch them kick it to the up line-men but are we watching football just for fun? This is their strategy and based on the results its working.

Sure looks like Ryle will be a team to watch over the next few years.

Would be interesting to see a "Hoop Dreams" style documentary on each of these freshman classes from Highlands and Ryle - following them all they way through senior year. Charting their development, progress and challenges as they move up the ranks. I say this because it seems, of late, posters have been commenting on the drop in talent (of late) in Ft. Thomas, while also lamenting how young promise seems to fade at Ryle. History suggests that HHS finds a way to persevere. Ryle, on the other hand, doesn't seem to live up to the promise that their freshman program represents through the success they achieve on the field. I don't have a dog in the fight - just piecing this together from comments gathered in various threads on both programs.

Mueller ran up the score on anybody and everybody. He kept throwing and if I'm not wrong I've heard of him kicking onside when the game had been well under control. Where in the rule book does it say you have to get the ball back. They normally would not do that. But there is the highland rules. Turn about is fair play. Can't complain when you've done it.

There were probably some incidents over the years but I can't agree with the comments by and large. Nor was there any attempt by Ryle to run up the score in this Frosh game. Good news at Ryle is that Coach Engler's leadership has brought a fresh and positive mindset and kids are enjoying playing the game. Great things in store for Raider football!

As usual a blatant disrespectful jab, just because I brought to your attention that you are not sinless in the score and onside category. Say what you want if it helps you sleep better at night. I rather find it amusing that rather than face the truth and facts that you stoop to insults. I'd rather lose with class than to win and be classless. I have not wished your team bad luck. Nor have I complained about you guys running up scores in the past. I just simply stated that you can't complain about others doing to you what you have done to them. That's not fair to be on the both sides of the fence. Don't insult our program. There are plenty of instances of 60 points on the scoreboard. Good for you. Nobody's mad. Stop getting offended if you happen to be on the other end of one of those games. I don't understand your stance?

This was absolutely the case with these two programs. I think we have made some coaching changes not only in personell but in style and character that will benefit us in the near future. We are just now turning the corner I hope we continue in our new direction. As for Highland you just keep keepin' on. It's business as usual, good solid program.

You are right that Dale did run up the score on teams at one time but I think he learned his lesson from heat he took (deservedly so) and stopped doing that later on...and HHS fans, you know he did at one point (remember 88-12 against Campbell Co.??). I don't think HHS can be accused of running up the score the last 5 years or so of the Dale era or this year under Weinrich.

Guys, I was in no way trying to pick a fight. I was just saying that, you will blow some people out and might be on the receiving end of one of those games. It's not right to call foul. When you beat your chest and toot your horn in voice and on the scoreboard you have a target on you. You DO have a successful program, That makes beating you a big deal. If they get the best of you, You're fair game. I was told it was a bad kick and kids hustled to the ball. I wasn't there and didn't see it, so I can't say one way or the other about it being intentional. Coach Bernier is not disrespectful towards his opponents.
