Everyone keeps saying the SK defense blitzed the wrong gaps, but isn't it possible that Dixie just ran the option so well that they made decisions on the gaps they saw open?

I wouldnt count it out so quickly. The bracket setup in 2014 for 6-A could be the first break they would need. The winner (or second place team) of the NKY 6-A district has a great opportunity of making it to Bowling Green. Then, who knows what happens in a one game situation.

D1 (McCracken) vs D4 (Trinity/St X/Male/Manual), D2 (Central Hardin/Meade Co) vs D7 (Bryan Station/Scott Co)

D3(Butler/PRP) vs D5(Ballard/Fern Creek), D6 (Dixie/SK) vs D8 (Lafayette)

 

they would have to go play on the road in the third round if it came to playing someone from D8. But, it would certainly be doable.

Yes it's possible. But the lack of the second layer of defense constantly makes you wonder "where the heck were they?". They were either blitzing or constantly got sucked in. Either way, it's correctable is my point and even if you are really good at the option, it can be stopped. If not, Army or Navy or whichever team it is that runs the option would be national champs every year! Kidding! But you can stop it if you dedicate to stopping it. If Dixie has something else to go to, then that makes it tougher to dedicate to stop it. But if what I saw is what they got, then someone with team speed can stop that attack. And what happens if they go down early in any game like the Cov Cath game. What will they do? Pass or stay with the run. Hard to say.

Is Dixie really up or is it more the product of beating up on weak competition and a very down NKY 6A District?

 

Let's call it what it is... Beechwood may very well be the best team they have beat and their also resume has a 41-7 blowout at the hands of CovCath and a narrow win over a Turpin team that isn't very strong.

And I would say that what I saw, it appeared Moore was either giving it to the middle guy or keeping it around the end. It was clearly a read and seemed to only be two options. But I may be wrong.

On every read option there is always a slant route behind the backers. Moore at least attempted it once.

If Dixie is in the post season, they have a chance! They have to win 5 games to take it all. Everybody else is in the same boat, takes 5 to win it all. Now, is it probable, Not Really . . . .

Okay. Makes sense. Is that the option you want them to use? Just kidding! But I did see them having issues completing anything that wasn't a loft pass. And saw issues catching it. (honestly, if they had any passing game, it's a running clock in that last game) So if suspect passing and hands are typical, then that would worry me. But if they are able to use that third option, a team also can pull a safety up to cover that route. So even with that third option, it can be taken away. Now where Dixie would have an advantage is I don't think it's a typical option and teams are not as used to seeing any option, like they were years ago. So preparing for it could be tough.

I'm not sure they can win it all. I as well don't think there is a clear lock on who does win it all. I'm giving a :thumb: for Dixie, I believe they're better than most believe, and aren't getting the credit. I'm hearing by many, that Highlands is much improved since their 1st game of the year. I don't see Dixie getting the same courtesy, I believe they deserve it.

I think NKY can get to the Final and if they do it won't be the 50 point blowouts like it has in the past. Those were the result of being on the correct side of the bracket and then running into a steam-roller in the Final. That won't happen this year

If that is the bracket breakdown, Dixie can get to the title game. They would definitely be an underdog in the title game versus Male/Trinity/St.X/Manual.

Based on the below information, I'd say yes. If this info is correct, Dixie would have a good chance to get to a one game final without running through the gauntlet of sorts others have been posting.

Given this breakdown, everyone better be ready for a NKY team to make the finals. Not a lock, but a good chance. Scott County and Bryan Station join the Louisville gauntlet. Only one makes it out.

 

Ryle and SK made the finals in similar scenarios. If all the teams better than you get placed on one side, you have a shot.
