I agree great list and you all are right a teams needs may dictate position for some girls but Mayes and Englemon will probably be interchangeable and I'm not sure Mayes even belongs in the top 5 anymore for either position. Harris is a top 5 at her position and probably pushes Mayes out. And Lexi has to be in the top 5 pg a little slight of frame but a rising star not only in our region but statewide. And I may have a few issues with the center list as well but I will hold my opinion on that! :whistling:

I'm with you completely on the Holmes SF spot. And I do think Harris is very good at what she does. I think she has high upside with room to grow on the skills side.

As far as Lexi at PG...she is an upcoming star. I agree. However, when I look at good PG's, I look at control of their team, the leader, calm under pressure, defender, decision making, etc. I think Lexi has some of that and is working on others, but I just think the experience the others on the list have with being a typical PG that a coach has confidence turning the team over to is still higher than Lexi at this point in her career. Control and decision making are the top two attributes most coaches want in a PG. I just feel she still has room to grow in those two areas...compared to the others on the list. That's not a knock on her. I love her game. All that comes with growth and experience. She is right there!

Agreed Harris could use some skill work but I think that statement holds true for most! And in my opinion Lexi isn't necessarily a pg or a sg!! She is a scoring guard! Good with the ball in hand but not necessarily a distributor or shooter just a flat out get to the rim type player!! IMO scorers are a different breed and although she may play point it's not her strength! Second best scoring guard behind Hannah Tubbs! IMO WITH that being said the High School game is very different and I will be interested in seeing how Hannah fits in a system and adapts to that she has always been the man! Iso and let her work. This will be different for her! In regards to the center position though this will be Amori Gulley's 4th year playing basketball and her combo of size, strength and speed is special! She has worked hard to put her name in the convo and has a favorable team record against the other players listed and I am betting she will open some eyes this coming year!

I agree with Lexi. She is a basketball player! Period. Gonna be good where ever you put her.

I also agree with Tubbs. It may take some time to become a team player. And that is not a knock at all. To your point, she has always had to "be the man" and now she doesn't. That takes some adjusting. But I can tell you I'd rather adjust that than vice versa! It's good to have a kid that can take over a game if you need her to. But big picture, she will have some adjustments to make.

As far as Mo Gulley, you talk about "upside". I think she is the prime example and might be the kid with the most "upside" in the region. Has a lot of the natural abilities it takes. The knowledge and skill is coming!

And FYI...there is another good player in the region that will have to adjust to not having to "be the man" too.

Let's hear it...

Nooo...I get in trouble for picking on her. You know who it is silly!!! But she will be in the same boat as Ms Tubbs. Again...not a bad thing.

Haven't seen her play to compare her to Hannah or any other player for that matter!

I don't necessarily compare her to Hannah in ability or skill, just in the adjustment she'll have to make is similar to what Hannah will...regarding not having to do it all.

Alright I'll take a shot. Just my opinion...I'm sure I've forgotten some and you may have a different order or perspective.

Pretty impressive list. There is one player that stands out to me.

The Jones girl from Ryle as a shooting guard. I say this because last year she single handily beat us (Connor) during the season with her shooting. I continued watching her through school and as much aau as I could, and by far one of the purest shooters I've seen in a long time.

Obviously we game planned to shut her down in the districts, but she still managed to lead her team in scoring against us...became a big fan and have a lot of respect for her at the 2g position. Agree with you on Gambrel and Hendricks!

The one thing that has impressed my the most about Madison over the years is her basketball IQ. Very intelligent player! Madison works hard on both ends of the floor and has become a very complete player. I look for her to have a very nice Junior season at Ryle.

Who are the starting five for Ryle?

Not determined. 4 returning starters juniors Lange, Jump, Shwartz, and Jones . Other spot up for grabs. Only one senior on team this year, O'Sullivan, since Martin opted not to return. Would have likely seen sophomore Ally Ast to get the starting spot but she is out for season with ACL. Several junior possiblities as well as middle school players that were brought up to play with the Raiders this year.

Sorry to hear about Ally, nice player. Is Poe still playing?

H Poe did not return. Think she is focusing on soccer as she is already one of the best soccer players in the region as a soph.
