9th Region Top bench players to watch

Featured Replies

I'll throw St Henry's Jordan Miller in the mix. As she goes this year, St Henry will. Needs to be more confident in her abilities.

What year is she?

Sr. Lighting quick.. Could be a sleeper this year... Injuries have hurt her.

Think I know who it is. Nice player!

Not really a guru when it comes to the names of players for other 9th region teams other than my Lady Dawgs but would like to get to know some. I think this thread would be interesting to see some opinions on position rankings for top 5 pg's, top five sg's etc...a top 5 based on position for the region!

That's a good start... A few girls here and there I may be higher on than others and what not but it's a good list to keep my eye out for some of the young ladies!

RC9, great list. I was going to take a stab at it as well but figured I would have forgotten to many players.

The only position I have ranked different would be the 3. I think Mallory Schwartz is the best player on your list at the 3. I also don't think I would have Mayes as a 3. I think of here more as a 4.

I would also move Lexi Held up on your list to the 5 ranking. She is going to be fun to watch over the next couple of years!

I agree on all that and struggled with the players you mentioned and a couple more. Schwartz is the best player on Ryle in my opinion and could probably make a play at the SG, but that group is loaded, so I moved her down to a 3. When I look at the 3 position, it's kinda tough because a 3 can be different things for different teams. For example, Hassert and Schwartz are much different players. One is better inside and the other has the edge outside. So the 3 is probably the toughest to compare. I have a little bias with Combs, but the reason I rank her is because I see her so much and understand all the little stuff she does. I think she's underrated too. She can shoot the 3 well, finish drives, rebounds good for her size and on a team of very good defenders, she is our stopper and always guards the best player. Right or wrong, all good players.

I agree Mayes is more of a 4, but I also think Egelmon is better at the 4 and didn't want to put two players from the same team at the same position. Don't ask me why! But I thought Mayes earned a spot somewhere and she will step out on occasion.

Couldn't agree more with Held. Love her game!!! Going to be really good and her time is coming. It's now, but she'll get her ink in time! :lol2:

Some of the players on the list don't have a true position. Schwartz and Mayes are two examples.

I agree with your assessment of Combs. I love the way she plays. Not sure she has a true position either.

I think that's a pretty solid list and certainly a conversation starter. It will be very interesting to monitor the match ups as these teams play each other and revisit this list in FEB. agree with Budman as well on Schwartz who can be a legitimate threat at 2 spot at Ryle..in fact all three Ryle players mentioned may be best suited 1 position up at college level...Jump as 4; Lang as 3; Scwartz as 2. But overall a great list.. My change would be Tibbs as #1 Center

Agree...that was a tough call too! Young lady has come a long way! And just a great kid!

Well I can tell you this...we all better go out and drum up some business on the girl's bball sight or the 5-6 of us that post are going to get real tired of hearing each others opinions by February!!

I agree great list and you all are right a teams needs may dictate position for some girls but Mayes and Englemon will probably be interchangeable and I'm not sure Mayes even belongs in the top 5 anymore for either position. Harris is a top 5 at her position and probably pushes Mayes out. And Lexi has to be in the top 5 pg a little slight of frame but a rising star not only in our region but statewide. And I may have a few issues with the center list as well but I will hold my opinion on that! :whistling:
