Holmes: Bolden

Dixie: Schreck/Rabe

Newport: Snapp

Cooper: McNeil,Hawthorn

Thanks, Just Jim! What about Ryle? Who will be their leader(s)?

I wasn't trying to give a ranking per say, I was more wondering who were some of the key players at each of the schools to watch out for.

Newcath:

Zack Pangallo, Grant Moeves, Ben Weyer, Drew McDonald

Covcath:

Cole VonHandorf, Bo Schuh (How good Grant Romes, Matt Schumate, Cooper Theobald, and Will Heppler play will determine how far the Colonels go)

Holmes:

James Bolden, Markel McClendon, Rod Avery (Don't be surprised if soph Jaiden Green starts for them...have heard he has gotten a lot more aggressive and is dunking any and everything near the rim. Nice size at 6'5-6'6....my sleeper, however, is 6'1 jr Marcus Mullins. One of the best athletes in the area. Missed a lot last year due to injury. Gives Holmes a legit deep threat)

Dixie:

Liam Rabe, Austin Schreck, Drew Moore (Have heard he was their best player at times when he was there this summer. Deepest team in the region with Hedger, Niehaus, Bolin, Isbel, and soph Hunter Meyer in the fold as well.)

Cooper:

Sean McNeil, Colin Hathorn (Jon Liechty and Dante Hendrix will both have nice years as well)

Boone:

Brendan Stanley (Brett Mayberry and Junior Stockwell will likely be 2nd and 3rd leading scorers)

Newport:

Ethan Snapp, Paul Price, Kam Covington (Averaged 9 & 9 last season as a soph...look for soph Najee Williams to really make a name for himself this year along with frosh Rico Hollis)

St Henry:

Connor Kunstek, Adam Goetz (I really like Alex Green and Paul Wallenhorst as well)

Highlands:

Parker Harris

Ryle:

Tyrek Owens, Jake Puthoff (Have heard a lot about Logan Turner as well from the JV level)

Conner:

Alec Garnett, Mike Scott (Would love to see him with a team like Holmes, Newcath, or Covcath)

Holy Cross:

Tyler Bezold (Hamilton Scott and Leighton Schrand should be the other two to make the biggest impact for HC)

Lloyd:

Lashunn Townsend (should have a really good soph year)

Beechwood:

Jacob Huff (Kyle Fieger, Conner Brock should also be contributors)

Those are likely the main contributors for each team this season.

Scott or Watts?

I thought Watts was a senior?

I thought Watts was a senior?

Watts is currently a senior.

.......

Are the two skinny 6'4"(ish) guys from Ryle still there? One had a floppy haircut, and one had short blonde hair parted on the side, and wore tape on his thumb most of the year. I liked those kids' games, just wasn't sure if they were seniors last year or were back...and have no recollection (sorry!!) what their names were. One of them used initials, I believe.

Didn't know he was only a junior last year...really like that kid's game. BIG time athlete for his size. If he develops an outside shot to go with his slashing ability, he could be one of the better ( 11-15 range) players in the region. I like his tenacity on defense.

JB Allen (great story...went from being cut junior year to double double against the state champs) and Josh Bellew were both seniors last year.

That was them....thanks!

This is one of those BGP Truisms (Faust is most underrated, Faust is one of the best coaches, Faust gets the most out of what he has), but honestly, I think he has fallen victim to what Bill Simmons as the David West principle. You are underrated for a long time, then EVERYONE starts talking about you being underrated, and the net result is you actually become overrated.

The Faust 'narrative' is how I know fall has arrived on BGP. That and pumpkin spice lattes for the girls lets me know that hoops' season is near.

Sometimes a post is worthy of a like because it contains humor, historical perspective, and is not afraid to go against the conventional thinking.

Scott or Watts?

Like the end of last season you will probably see Conner run a very small lineup with lots of movement on offense. There really is no size on the team and bunch of 2s and 3s.

St Henry lost a lot. Surprised they are in top 10. At first glance, it appears there may be one too many Cov Cath and New Cath players on list. Teams may be good but I think you overlooking the best players on other teams.

Agreed on St Henry losing a lot. I see them struggling offensively unless some new kid suddenly has turned into a scoring threat. Not deep either.

You're exactly right and I was going to say the same thing.

Faust gets more love on BGP than almost every other coach, for reasons unbeknownst to me.

Faust has been at St. Henry for how long? 20 years? With 1 regional championship & a fair number of teams that weren't even competitive.

It's now running neck-and-neck with "Newport may surprise some people this year."

Dave's a fine coach. I just think his legend is a bit overstated.

Coach Faust will have the Cru ready to go.

He gets the most out of what he has. :ylsuper:

Exactly 2 positive comments on Coach Faust and now he's overrated? How does that work? :idunno:

You really need context? A few of us have been on here for several basketball seasons, so we have more than two months of posts to reference. Those lines that I included parenthetically come up every year on here. BGP had about 14 years of posts before August of 2014, so things tend to carry over season to season.
