Clemson 23 Louisville 17

Featured Replies

Clemson's freshman QB who had done absolutely nothing except throw an INT in the first quarter, before he left with an injury.

So since they won without him how would that have changed the game? I suppose your saying that if he was not injured UL may have won?

No, I'm agreeing that I don't think him playing changes the outcome of the game... Clemson's offense isn't what beat UL, and it wouldn't have been even if Watson finished the game.

I really looked for a more lop sided win by Clemson in this one, UL played well in keeping it close, especially at death valley. Was a shame that the Clemson qb was injured. That kid is a true freshman and imo in two years will be a top Heisman candidate, if not next season.

5 star freshman who's completed almost 70% of his passes this year for 12 TDs and 1 pick, add another 130 rushing yards and 3 TDs. He might have helped Clemson in the 2nd half once he got going.

Sorry, the quote about him doing nothing other than throwing an int before he was injured threw me off.. I guess you were saying it could have been much worse then? I would agree with that, neither team looked good imo.

But they didn't even need his help.... I guess everyone is saying it could have been much worse.. Forgive me, but I am shocked.

Two muffed punts from 7-0. Just think of that.

That's a stretch....the scored zero points on this muffed punt.

Undiscpline has killed this team all season. It is a reflection of Bobby. His last UL team was the same way.

Other than your special teams reference......I think that your post is entirely inaccurate....

His last U of L team (2006), his team averaged 5 penalties for 44 yards / game.......

Do you look these things up before you write them?

They'll be fine. They have one more loss, right now, than predicted, pre-season.....what is bothering people, is that they are not winning with offense. So while the Offense struggles the defense is excelling, and that's messing with people's minds.

Fair enough. Had that turned around in my head. Two game-altering punt plays to say the least.

My point is to say that we are extremely close to 7-0 while not being particularly close to 4-3. This team has more wins ahead. That 8-4 mark that was talked about before the season is looking very real and the people predicting 9-3 or even better are hardly looking unreasonable given how close Louisville has been in those losses.

So I've had some time to digest this and sleep it off. What a weekend.

1) If you EVER have the opportunity to attend a game at Clemson... DO IT. Incredible atmosphere and a boatload of friendly, enthusiastic fans. It's a little disorienting to hear "Welcome to Death Valley" from complete strangers all day but for it to always sound like it was coming from Mister Rogers. Great place.

2) Can't say enough about how well Louisville traveled. There were a ton of us down there. I think Cardinal fans had this game circled from the day it was announced.

3) Greenville is right up the road from Clemson. Stayed here all weekend. Great home base. Small town feel with a lot of big-city amenities. Reminds me a little of Lexington but without all the Big Blue Nationers, which is a huge plus for the city. :D

4) James Quick might ultimately be the Russ Smith of Louisville football. The potential for him to dodge a tackler and make a huge run is there all the time; just look at the end of that game. It's also possible he's going to dance around on a punt return and get tackled right where he started. Frustrating; the rewards are massive.

5) I have the solution: Reggie in the first half so that he can run around until the opponent's defensive line gets tired and then bring in Gardner to drop back and pass. The protection was miles better after the break. I'll need to see the game again to see what that was really all about.

6) Still can't believe Quick got caught on that run in the final minute. Should have been able to torch those guys.

Guy had the angle...and Quick came back towards the numbers instead of the boundry.....had he gone sideline, he would've scored.....that sucks.

Caught a bit of this game, really thought U of L would pull it out.

Cards had zero business losing this game. They are terrible at the most important offensive position. Terrible.

^ Will was better than average yesterday.
