Newport in a shocker.

I think this will be a good game but Newcath's strength of schedule will show in this game. Newcath by 2tds.

Similar to the NCC-Lloyd game....NCC wins easily.

That is the game I first thought about when looking at this match up also.

 

I think NCC takes this one.

I like the Breds in this one but I think Newport will make it a good game. They are better than some are giving them credit for, regardless of the schedule they've played.

 

I look for a similar score in the Lloyd game, except I think Newport scores. Too many weapons on offense for them to get shutout, IMO.

I think Newport's inability to throw the ball effectively will be a big factor in this game. Newport has good size on the line and speed in the backfield but so did Lloyd. NCC had to defend against Lloyd's passing offense and the Juggs were still was unable to run the ball effectively. My guess is that NCC stacks the box and Newport has trouble sustaining drives. Joseph runs the ball hard and Price can be elusive so they may get loose a couple times, but long deliberate drives will be a problem for the Wildcats.

 

I would agree, but the question is, "will they be able to fire them"? :idunno: I also agree with Equal Gravy, on Newport's inability to throw the ball effectively.

Homecoming week for NCC. Hoping for a win!

NCC's special teams played really well against Lloyd and accounted for a lot of hidden yardage by limiting Lloyd returns and returning punts well. They will need the same performance against Newport. Newport will be able to move the ball but needs to stay out of down and distance situations that will get them killed. First down will be critical to their success as well as limiting penalties. Lot easier to pass or run on 3rd and 2 versus passing on 3rd and 10.

NCC running game needs to secure the ball and limit the turnovers. They can wear Newport down with greater depth but can't do that if you turn the ball over.

Neither team has been all that great so far this year and both have a lot of room for improvement but it should be a good game. Newport has been in more competitive games but NCC has not lost this one in the millennium.

I was responding to the post that NCC still has to prove themselves so again what has Newport proven nothing! They can beat weak teams, sorry but the reality is Newport would not have beaten a team that NCC played the first 4 wks. So again I will say NCC by 14.

Williamsburg shot themselves in the foot with all of their offside penalties. WV rb didn't play the 2nd half, and Newport would have been destroyed as well!! But your right each to his own we will see Friday night.

Ummm I very easily can speak on it. Newport got crushed by Scott whom got crushed by Cooper so they wouldn't have beaten Cooper. SK is undefeated and has destroyed everyone in their path with the exception of Ryle. Newport would not have beaten CC not Dixie.

Ok, don't know that we were watching the same game, but when a team has over 10+ offsides penalties among other penalties and still wins the game I'm pretty sure they shot themselves in the foot. Back to the original thread!
