Newport Catholic (0-4) travels to Erlanger on Firday to take on the (4-0) Lloyd Juggernauts. NewCath is coming off playing a "suicidal" gauntlet of 5A & 6A teams, while the Juggs 1st four contest haven't been against anything close to similar. Is this the week we see the payoff of the Breds schedule, or our the Juggs just that good?

Since NewCath was moved to 2A in 2007, they have NOT lost a district game EVER, and are 50-5 against all 2A opponents since that time.

In the history of this match-up the Breds own a 31-6 advantage over the Juggs. The last time the Juggs beat the Breds, you have to go back to 1991, and a Juggs 31-29 win. The Breds have won 17 in a row in this series.

What say you?

DANM!!!!! Can a Mod add a poll please.

Poll added.

What in the world is NCC doing playing a 2a team????

How odd is it that these two teams have no common opponent and not even anyway to stretch it and say they have played any teams remotely similar?

Lloyd has dominated some very bad teams and NCC has been dominated by some very good teams.

No way to get a read on this game from any games played thus far.

I guess we'll find out Friday

Still on the fence with this game; whoever wins takes the district IMO.

I would not write off Newport. They have enough playmakers to get an upset win in district play.

The Wildcats definitely have talent and it could happen. I do believe that the district is the most competitive than it's been over the years.

I think the district runs through NCC but I believe Newport has a chance to beat them. I see NCC winning this one and the winner of the NCC/Newport game winning the district. Of course there is still a lot of season left. Only time will tell.

Lloyds opponents 4-14

NewCath opponents 15-4

The question is......does NewCath's schedule better prepare them for district opponents more than Lloyd's? Or does it not matter at all?

What I saw out of Newport on Friday night leads me to believe.......I don't think so.

Did Ncc struggle with Holmes in the scrimmage? I know it was only a scrimmage, but Holmes was not a struggle for Lloyd. Ncc moves to 0 for 5. What I saw out of Ncc yesterday makes me think this is a 3-6 year. They have some guys who are a year away. They'll return to form next year.
