FSU's Changed Stance On Winston Penalty

Featured Replies

I think it looks worse that they're now suspending him a whole game instead of just a half when it appears that the sole reason is because of public pressure.

The right thing to do isn't always popular and it takes a real leader to stand and fire in the face of it. I don't think that's what's going on here, unless there's been some new info that I'm not aware of (admittedly I haven't read any updates past headlines he isn't playing at all tomorrow).

All that this is telling Winston is that they'll punish him as much as the public makes them.

The message: if you are going to kill someone, that's fine, just hide the body well.

They are just letting FSU have more of a challenge to beat Clemson.

Honestly I think they are looking to see how they do with SMag and if they win tomorrow with SMag then Winston will be on notice. As he should be. He's not needed.

Kick him off.

JW24, gotta disagree with you a bit here.

On the first graph, why suspend a player for a half, that lacks stones. The message: you did wrong and I am going to punish you, but I really need you to win so.....I've never seen a student suspended for half a school day???

In this instance the public was correct. FSU is in the business of educating young adults and preparing them for life after college. Thus far they have failed Winston in this manner. And because of his entitlement, or because he's an idiot altogether, he continues to put the university in tough spots.

On the second graph, I don't condone it...But that advice is time tested. :lol2:

Sounds like they increased his suspension after their investigation showed he hadn't been completely truthful about the incident. Wonder what he lied about (or omitted)?

I hope they never let Winston do another interview! :ohbrother:

Anymore why not just put a poll on Twitter and let the fans decided the punishment.

I'll be glad when the off the field stuff stops dominating sports coverage but I don't know if that day will ever come.

I don't really think that just sitting out the first half is much of a punishment. If anything it potentially sets the kid up to be a hero. If FSU went into the half trailing to Clemson and Winston comes in and leads a big comeback, he will be celebrated and what could he possibly learn from that scenario.

He downplayed the whole thing and denied standing on a table when he screamed out the obscene phrase. He got caught lying about it.

It doesn't matter FSU will still win!

I dislike FSU. Winston should suspended multiple times before this. But Im just confused how this is worthy of a suspension. It's an Internet video that went viral and his poor attempt at humor. Who was harmed ?

He lied to the school.
