You're absolutely right. I did forget. Them moving up to 3A threw me off. They interrupted a nice little run Highlands had been on up to that point.

Kudos to you ATLCat for clearing up the injury excuse. Hatfield, Taylor, and Willis are Belfry's 3 primary options. All 3 played.

 

The way I see it as of now.....

 

1. Mayfield (only because they are the defending champs and a very close game against McCracken County)

2. Pikeville (they have the resume with wins over Prestonsburg, Hazard, and a statement win over Belfry)

 

3. Williamsburg (seem to be the real deal, but will not really know until about the 3rd round of playoffs)

4. Beechwood

 

5A Hazard

5B Russellville

5C Raceland

 

Everybody else in any order.

With a win this week I would put the in the 5ABCD category, but as of now I feel Hazard, Russellville, and Raceland have done more.

1 Mayfield Mayfield 4-1 NR

Mayfield showing it's still top dog in Class A. The Cardinals young running back duo looks to be enough for another year of dominance.

 

2 Frankfort Frankfort 3-1 NR

Frankfort continues to roll. The Jalen's -- Washington, Acree -- will need to remain potent on the ground to make up where the Panthers lack through the air.

 

3 Pikeville Pikeville 5-0 5

With a win over Belfry the Pikeville shoots up to the No. 3 spot. Daric Pugh is doing most of the heavy lifting in the Panther rushing attack.

 

4 Russellville Russellville 5-0 3

Don't consider this a drop for Russellville, rather being passed by Pikeville. The true value of this team won't be revealed until Oct. 24 when Mayfield comes to town.

 

5 Williamsburg Williamsburg 5-0 4

Williamsburg didn't score over 40 this week, but it got the job done. Skyler Griffith is shredding defense and has been incredibly efficient to start the year.
