Before I answer...what exactly constitutes a cup in this question?

Filler up please!

I drink 4 or 5 cups before 11 am, then it is water the rest of the day. I can't drink any caffeine after lunch because it interferes with my ability to sleep.
This, I mainline coffee until noon and then I'm done. I honestly don't even want to guess how many cups it is, but it's a lot. My day starts with a workout every weekday and a mug of coffee is there beside me from the get-go.

I get a lot of weird looks at the pool with my mug of coffee.

This morning on the local news they said 85% of working people drink at least 3 cups of coffee a day. Not sure I am buying that as the number seems high. Maybe it is accurate?

I do not drink coffee. It gives me the creeps knowing people "must" have a substance to function through a day; it does not seem right to me. And that is how it is with many coffee drinkers. I know if my wife does not have her coffee in the morning, her day is screwed. Her head hurts, she is grouchy, and feels even more sorry for herself than normal :D

I refuse to get hooked on it. How about you?

I'll tell you what gives me the creeps, a triathlete who doesn't drink coffee. What kind of freak are you? :D
No, they don't need it, they want it. They'll have a headache if they don't get it. May be grumpy too. They can still function. Anyone who tells you differently is either exaggerating or lying or both.

I take it that you haven't been around many true coffee drinkers. Essentially you are correct, they don't necessarily NEED the caffeine, just like a smoker doesn't NEED the cigarette...but their bodies sure will put up a big fight, and some for a long time, until they get that fix. And for them to function normally for them, they need that fix unless or until they kick that habit.

I'm telling you, I have been around heavy coffee drinkers who for what ever reason didn't get their coffee yet that morning...it can be a quite unpleasant experience.

I know one other person, who was my main training partner in Murray, that never drank coffee. He would drink a Dr. Pepper post-long workout or Coke during long days to get the caffeine fix. It's incredibly odd for a marathoner or triathlete not to drink coffee.

Damn

None for me. Usually do the Dew if I'm working a night shift and need some caffeine.

I also drink 100+ oz of water on the average day. In short, I pee a lot...

I take a gallon of water with me to work every day. Usually finish it off on the way home.

As far as coffee, 3 cups min. Some days 4-5.

Damn

I know it's terrible but we all have our vices. If I ever become diabetic I'm screwed. I like sugar in and a bunch of it everything coffee included!!!

That is one thirsty bear! :lol2:

I've had 3 small sips of coffee on 3 different occasions in my life. Each one was awful.

I don't mind the smell, can't stand the taste. I also don't like how people are addicted to it, which turns me off. I drink a couple glasses of water in the morning.

Sometimes I will drink a coke or a Mountain Dew, but generally I try to avoid soft drinks & stick to water with lemon.

Quite frankly, I don't drink any warm drinks. No hot chocolate, either (although I have had it several times).

I've been around plenty of heavy coffee drinkers, as in more than a pot a day drinkers, and its all about want. If someone is unpleasant when they don't drink coffee, they're probably just unpleasant people. Its not the coffee's fault.

I make 2 cups one after another in my Kuerig, then pour it into my big tumbler with a splash of skim, then start up the morning taxi.
