Has Ray Lewis lost his mind!?

White tuxedo, blue dress. What's the difference?

This is a great thread.

Ray should have just manned up and took the heat. It was so obvious he wasted that guy back in 2000. Threw his boys under the bus. I am actually surprised he is on ESPN. He is one guy that should have just retired and gone off into the sunset.

I wasn't a big Ray Lewis fan to begin with but after his investigation it may me sick watching the media cover him in his career.

Semi-related: Probably hardest time in my life to not laugh in a serious setting. First offensive meeting of my sophomore year of college football. Our offensive coordinator is telling us how much he studied and traveled for him and us to get better that offseason.

O Coordinator: "...And I got to sit In on the team meetings with the Ravens! I sat in the same room with Ray Lewis! And I'll be honest, he was intimidating!..."

One of my teammates leans over to me and, perfectly timed, says: "I bet he was, he killed two people..."

Took everything I could not to lose it in laughter.... Inappropriate. Yet very funny.

One of the poor kids that was dead had recently violated his probation from a charge of possessing an illegal handgun. I'm sure that guy and the guy he was with were completely innocent in the whole thing.

The limo driver only said he'd heard Lewis' two friends brag about stabbing anyone (not Lewis... and this was before he recanted anything incriminating). Jailhouse snitch says that Lewis was using his sister to send messages to one of the alleged accomplices saying not to worry, he'd never betray him.

Every time you hear the kid's parents and relatives talking about it, they're always talking about how they didn't get enough in a settlement.

Sorry if that's overly callous, but I'm not really sure the jury got it wrong by deliberating 5 hours and saying that the killings were in self-defense. Someone got cracked in the head with a bottle and a huge fight broke out. I'm going to go out on a limb and say the guy with the probation violation wasn't the type to want to talk things out at any point before he or his friends did that. If they're dumb enough to swing a bottle at Lewis himself or in his presence and he beats one of them, then that's probably just Darwinism in some ways.

That article further cemented my belief that he got away with murder.

Watching Ray Lewis on the pre game show with guys like Tom Jackson makes me ill. No tolerance for that kind of stuff anymore.

If there had been video, Ray would still be in prison.

Ray did. He took the stiffest punishment, he had the longest jail sentence of any of them, and he didn't testify against his friends in a damaging way.

Had he testified against them, he'd have been acquitted just like them, but instead, he was the only one who was charged with anything (obstruction of justice). They have a limo driver saying that he heard each of Lewis' friends bragging about stabbing him, but not Lewis. The limo driver was flipped and his statement he gave to police never came in at trial because he recanted. Do you think it was Lewis' team of attorneys or his boys who mounted all the defense? If it weren't for Lewis, his boys would have been in a much worse situation, I can tell you that, but regardless, after the jury deliberated 5 hours, both of his boys were found not guilty by reason of self-defense. Look at the history of one of the guys killed and you can probably understand why the jury found it to be self-defense.

How is it obvious Ray "wasted" a guy? There were two people dead. Lewis had blood on them and the most damaging testimony that was given just said that he was seen hitting them and then later speculates that he destroyed his clothes. Sorry, but when someone breaks a bottle over someone's head, they should expect to get punched. I can't really say I blame Ray for hitting them.

All Ray admitted to at trial was that he saw his friend (who had the knife) hit one of the stab victims with the same hand he was holding the knife in. He said it in a way that wasn't incriminating to his friend legally speaking, but who does it sound like the prosecution was really after, Ray Lewis, or his friend who had the knife and at the admission of his own witness, had hit the guy with the same hand that he was holding the knife in? All that said, Ray probably only said that because he was dead to rights if he didn't and there was no way of proving anything happened otherwise, but I don't think that's really throwing him under the bus if we're talking about the legal effect of that. It was a calculated move on behalf of star lawyers that Lewis was able to get for all of them.

Based on this post I'm guessing you didn't read the article from the NY Post link that you posted? It's the complete opposite of everything you are saying. It even noted that Ray's friends didn't appreciate him turning on them and that had Ray not turned on them he may have been acquitted with them. The acquittal was a surprise and I got from the article Ray and his friends are no longer friends.
