in an effort to make the arena look full (at the nba's urging) thousands and thousands of tickets were being giving away, predominantly in the black community, adding to the overwhelming black audience.

 

So I guess some of those pesky hard working people weren't really paying.

 

Maybe he wanted to stop giving away FREE tickets and find a way to get some money for it.

 

Guess he should have given those tickets to the white community to solve the "problem" before it started.

 

Should those pesky hard working black people have said no to free NBA tickets?

 

And by his logic, he should have been selling more tickets before the "black problem" he created with the ticket giveaways.

I don't think gametime read the whole memo . If you just saw the excerpts on CNN I agree it came off much worse.

 

I read the entire email this morning. Don't assume on things you have no clue.

 

It came off as very carefully worded, and had serious racial undertones throughout.

 

Bottom line. The message was how do we carefully weed the black number down so we can get more money from the whites. Racism...

Replace black and white with any other demographic businesses use to break down customers and this is a non issue.

 

If he would of said we have to many young people and not enough older people who have higher income non issue. If he said we don't have enough women and we need to figure out why again non issue.

 

People just get to sensitive anytime race is brought into the discussion. Why isn't it smart business to wonder why a certain demographic isn't buying your product ?

Lol. If you say so. Show me proof of black people being denied service ? I could make the argument the NBA does the best job of any league of catering toward the black community.

 

He was talking about catering or making a marketing push to increase white attendance. If you want to make the leap you are doing you are entitled but it lacks any evidence to support again show me proof black customers weren't served or denied service .

 

If I'm a business owner and I already have strong support from one demographic I can decrease my marketing budget toward that demographic to increase my budget to market toward another demographic .

 

If I'm a car dealership and I have a large male customer base but a small female customer base . I know I can increase sales and revenue by diverting my marketing campaign toward women it is smart business to do so .

 

Business only knows one color and that is green . Your job is to get as much of it as possible.

Because in this instance the issue is much different. By his own words, the white people aren't showing up because the number of blacks is too large. The only answer to fix that issue is to alienate the black customers so that number goes down in hopes the white number goes up.

So does the company FUBU (For Us By Us) not gear toward blacks, isn't the name alone racist. I'm not the US, so I feel like I'm not wanted.

I'll try to go slow here. The market research says the whites have more money. They are targeting that "demographic" and need to alienate the other "demographic" to accomplish said mission. The only way to do that is by being racist. Are you up to speed yet???

To me this is like a bar that plays country music in a section of town that is mixed racially and isn't getting enough people in the door. The owner of the bar decides that it's too white and the music that is being played isn't "fun" and doesn't get enough people into the bar to dance and party. So he decides that it would help the biz if he hires a DJ to play pop and hip-hop which will bring a younger and more diverse audience i.e. more blacks into the bar. In his mind it will make it place to be seen and a place that pro athletes will want to come to which, in his mind, will draw the ladies and other fans. He'd do the same if he thought opening a Cuban bar would mean more ticket sales.

 

The white audience isn't supporting him and his family. He needs to do something. Blacks aren't coming because they hate country music.

The difference is that the Hawks have enough people in the door, they just are the wrong color and don't spend enough money for his taste. Not like those good spending white folks do at our hockey games. Oh, and those blacks are scaring off the white people who do have money to spend even though we have never had a mugging or violent incident at our arena. Oh, and the Kiss Cam is too black. Maybe if we put some more white people up there they'll come back. Oh, and our cheerleaders are too black as well even though over half of our cheerleaders are actually white. Hell, all these negroes do is come to the games and sit at the bar the whole time. You never see any fathers and sons at the games either. And those damn negores never cheer in our player intros either. Not like those good money spending white folks do. Boy, now they cheer during a player intro.

 

 

Atlanta has always been known as the Black Mecca. If he didn't want a predominately black crowd that doesn't spend money at NBA basketball games then he should have bought the Timebrwolves or the Jazz.
