Hawks owner to sale because of racist emails.

The only thing that was offensive in my mind was "blacks scaring white people off". That was over the line, even though he states he has never been uncomfortable. I am not sure he is racist or intended that to sound that way. He should know to get those types of written communications an edit by the PR department. Most of this seem to be his observations and trying to find ways to generate interest in the team.

It will only take time before someone like Hank Aaron spouts off and we will see if a double standard exist.

Does Hank Aaron own a sports team?

Offensive to whom? It was a shot at whites, not blacks. Levenson is a liberal Jew. As for running an internal memo by the PR department, that is ridiculous. The memo was not intended to be released to the public, and running every draft memo by the PR department would make it difficult to get anything done.

A manager or owner should be able to communicate with his own staff or peers without having to agonize over the wording of the communication. There was nothing wrong with the memo's tone and nobody has the right in this country not to be offended - especially by a memo that was not intended for public distribution.

Levenson apparently thought that he had crossed some line, and that is his right. I respect him for resigning to avoid the appearance of hypocrisy, but his real mistake was supporting the ouster of Sterling for making real racist comments. That was not the proper role for the league to play.

This is a money grab. Nothing more, nothing less. Easy way out to sell the team. He bought it for 204 million and will sell it for over 500 million. He'll double his investment and laugh all the way to the bank.

No but he works for some pretty big sports team called the braves and had some pretty racist comments. He wasn't fired.

That makes no sense. Was there something that prevented him from selling the team without the email controversy?

A good reason.

A good reason.
Well that makes perfect sense. An opportunity to double his investment was not a good reason, so he wrote an email that he thought was racist, and then reported himself to the NBA. Got it.

If he didn't want to sell why would he tell on himself over what white people are saying isn't even a racist letter? Doesn't make sense to snitch on himself over a 2 year old email. Early speculation is sell the team and someone will move it to Seattle.

How does portraying himself as a racist owner enhance the value of the team? Why would he not just announce that he wanted to sell the team? The points that he made in the email message makes the franchise sound like a "fixer upper."

What did he say in the message that was racist to black people that a white person like me is missing?

Don't know. Not my theory. Just passing on what some people on twitter are theorizing and I am in line with that thought.

If I thought it would make a difference I'd tell you what is racist about it but all I'll get in return is close minded snide remarks and that's just too exhausting. It wasn't racist at all. Just trying to reach a white demographic is all. No biggie.

Just another example of people demanding a right not to be offended, where no such right exists. Customers always have the right to vote with their feet.
