La Salle has beaten CovCath badly over the past couple years and those 2 La Salle teams don't come close to this years La Salle team so I would say that's 1 team that can/will/did beat CovCath consistently.

 

They play them twice, right? In the years they played them, was CC on up or down years? And I believe HHS was the better ky team those years (by a lot) so what would lasalle have done against HHS those years? We are talking Ohio against ky. Not Ohio against individual teams in ky. And has lasalle always been D2? If you pick the best Cincy team in those years, then pick the best NKY team in the same year. You say this lasalle team is better than the one CC played. Well this Cov cath team is waaaaaay better the the CC team that played in those games as well. You can't use past outcomes to compare current teams.

It means CCH probably isn't a Top 5 or 6 overall team in KY.

 

Luckily for them it looks like 4A will be winnable for a team who isn't even Top 10 overall this year.

You need to go back further in the thread to start if you want to correct me. The statement was made that Ohio football was better than KY football. Someone also said it was waaaayyyy better. Then someone made the point that Oh large school football is better than KY medium school football. With an attempt to say we basically aren't comparing apples to apples if you look at Cov Cath vs Moe. I agree with that. So I put out there, "who in D2 or D3 in Oh would be Cov Cath or HHS?". You say Lasalle, based on past outcomes. Who knows if Lasalle would beat them this year or not. You say "well, they beat CC twice in the past and they are better this year" I'm basically saying, how does that prove 1)Ohio is better than KY in the same division and 2)How does that prove that Lasalle would beat this year's CC team or HHS? You can't compare Ky vs Ohio based on two medium sized schools in NKY playing against very large schools with very strong football traditions in Ohio...and especially recently with what Moe is putting on the field. Heck, there aren't any Ohio teams that can play with them either!

Again you are changing the argument to make your point so I am done with this. But to be fair and answer your question, La Salle moved to D2 last season but from my understanding, they have been a D2 sized school for years but chose to play up to D1.

One, the intent of my argument has been the same since I chimed in. Not sure what you mean about changing. Bet others know what I mean.

 

Two, I'm a HHS fan, so I really could care less who Cov cath plays other than maybe two nights a year. I'm just talking oh vs ky and the myth that Ohio teams are waaaayyy better than ky teams. Not true if they play against "like" teams.

 

Ohio has waaaayyy more very good programs in my opinion, but at the top of each division, ky is competitive. Ky, not NKY.

Ohio went to 7 Divisions last year breaking up D1, D1 went from 121 schools to 72. This decrease pushed several D1 schools to D2, Lasalle was one of them.

Doesn't mean a thing. CovCath stepped up and played the heavyweight and took one on the chin- no different than any other NKY team would have (yes, SK and FTH included).

The only thing it means to me is that Covington Catholic still isn't good enough to beat any team in the GCL.

 

I'm know I'm being trolled here, but CovCath has beaten GCL south teams.

Don't think we will be able to put the Moe-CovCath into context until after the Moe-Trinity game.

We are talking apples and oranges....for gods sake Moeller is the defending state champ...twice....that would be like Lasalle playing Trinity when James Quick and that crew was there and saying well what does that mean for Ohio football...come on people CCH is not the best we have to offer. KY has schools that are as good as the Big boys in Ohio or could make it a game...the problem is it's only two or three a year.
