Only one standout guy from Highlands this season, or only one standing out so far?

 

Only one that would fit in with the men of MOE, nothing more and nothing less

 

Highlands is Highlands as they posses their typical football player but Beau is not typical and this sets him apart from everyone in NKY, that is for sure.

I said "no" because he's an interior lineman. He's not beating out the ND kid. They only play 3 down. He's not quick enough to play DE.

 

Without seeing Moe yet this year, my guess is Johnson would start at DE if they are only playing three up front. One of the ends has to be able to hold the point of attack under the pass rushing LB in a 3-4 or 3-3-5 type system and Johnson would be perfect in that role. Might be a two down guy with an edge rusher taking his spot depending on the situation, but if you play 1st down you start...

The purpose of my comment was not a shot at NKY kids. It is more of a testament to just how freaky Moe is. They don't look like a high school team. Heck, their soph TE who didn't get in that is the "next great TE at Moeller." He's 6'6 220. Can't get on the field.

 

Pretty sure Highlands has a kid with the same stats that can't get on the field. This is a ridiculous thread IMO considering that 95% of BGP'ers have never seen Moeller play.

Ahhhh, just read the Cov Cath/Moeller thread, now this one makes sense.

Moeller is very good. They really are a extremely good high school football team. But, NKY is a large area with a lot of football players playing on good teams. Of course there are a couple of kids from NKY who would start for Moeller.

 

Honestly, I can't tell you exactly who they would be, but if you are a D-I player in NKY, chances are Moeller could use you someplace.

 

It's really just a matter of probability. You are talking about hundreds of NKY kids, who only have to gain one starting spot. the likelyhood of that happening is very high. I'd say several would likely start.

 

And, yes, I know Moeller's personnel. Haven't seen all the NKY kids that have been listed here though.

This thread is crap. Everyone knows Coopers water boy would start in front of any WB's Moe throws out there.

Before the game last night I would have had the same reaction to this concept as many have had. I would have bet Hoge and Wags would be better QBs than Crable.

 

Crable can really sling it and is 6'4 220.

 

I realize 99.9% are at a disadvantage because of not seeing Moe this year. They've played 2 games with one being in Columbus so you can't even picture in your mind what they look like.

 

We've come up with some "maybe" "if" and "a few reps" thus far. That's my point. It's crazy to see in person.

The Beau Hoge hype is a little over the top. He seems like a fine player but is the hype because of Highlands, his dad? Would a similar player at SK or Ryle get this love or would we say "He is nice player and will play football somewhere next year."? Educate me. Does he have any solid FCS offers? I see MAC schools listed but no offers on Rivals or ESPN.

I saw Moe two years ago against Trinity. I believe , and I may be mistaken, that T comes here to play Moe this year.

They were physically more mature and more developed than kids playing in NKy. I can only imagine what their practices might be like. If T and Moe play here on on a Saturday, I will catch them again.

 

On that note, you are comparing 17 and 18 year old kids with 19 year old men. Picture the kids playing now in two years more developed and then compare.

Who has 19 year old men playing?

Top NKY players we would consider:

 

Hoge - no

Wags - no

Johnson from Dixie - no

Hedger from Dixie - no

Moore - no

Murrer - maybe - not sure

Deaton from SK - Moe LBs are as big and much faster

Winkler from SK - Might get some reps - Moe has a D1 receiver with 3 or 4 other really good, big receivers

No OL that I can think of outside of Murrer

Moe has a FCS corner - can't think of any corners in NKY who are at that level

Safeties? "Cowboy" from HHS - maybe in the mix - he certainly can lay a lick on people.

 

Who else?

Deaton would start for them so would Hicks, Olmstead, Vercheak, Sandlin, Winkler, Marksberry and Powell. To bad their all Pioneers!
