Yea... call me a homer for the 11th if you want, but if you are one of the best players there, you deserve to be on a list of top 40 kids in your class more often than not.

 

He's one of the four best in the 11th next season, and all of those aren't even seniors (Williams).

 

Agree on Tanner Johnson. Should be in consideration for top 20 IMO.

The 2015 class does seem to be a solid class. I am not sure what is the best way to define it however if we define it by D1 offers (not saying I know a better way). Is a "low" D1 offer (like NKU) a better offer than a "high" DII school? Is being the end of the bench for a D1 a better situation than lets say starting for DII? I guess it depends on what the kid and his family want, I am sure there is no wrong answer.

 

I hear ya. I do think that D1 opportunities/offers are probably the best gauge of overall talent and potential. However, I think that it's MUCH better to play at a good D2 school than to ride the bench at most any D1 school. Just because there are D1 offers doesn't mean they are always the best option.

There is no way sitting on a D1 bench is better than playing on a D2 team UNLESS the player has an opportunity to go to a prestigious SCHOOL acdemically like Duke, Vandy, etc. Any kid that says they would rather ride the bench for 4 years at a D1 rather than play elsewhere doesn't have a player's heart in my mind. NO ONE wants to sit his entire career after being a "star" player in high school.

Probably. I remember liking his game when I saw him play last year. I believe he had a good summer as well and we all know that your summer on the AAU circuit determines a lot.

Bellarmine University basketball coach Scott Davenport had a couple important allies in the recruitment of Trinity High School guard Daniel Ramser, and they helped the Knights land a commitment from him on Thursday afternoon.

 

“Coach Davenport and the whole staff made me feel like I was really wanted at Bellarmine, and that was the main reason I decided to commit there — and (in order) to be my grandparents’ favorite grandson,” Ramser said with a laugh. “Coach Davenport recruited me really hard, but my grandparents probably recruited me the hardest of anyone.”

 

Ramser’s grandparents, Emmett and Pat, have been Knights’ season ticket-holders for years and were thrilled for him to receive a scholarship offer from Davenport in July. Next year, they’ll get to see Daniel suit up for the home team.

 

“Being able to play here in front of my family was a big reason” for picking Bellarmine, he said.

 

Ramser was one of Davenport’s top targets. The Knights’ coaches closely tracked his games with the Louisville Prospects club during the July evaluation period, when he showcased the steady, all-around game that has made him a key player for Trinity.

 

The 6-foot-4 Ramser averaged 6.1 points and 2.8 rebounds last season for the state semifinalists. He shot 42.4 percent from the floor, including 37.2 percent (35 of 94) from 3-point range, and 81 percent at the free-throw line.

 

“(Davenport) said the way I play would fit perfectly in their system,” Ramser said. “An all-around, unselfish, a team player. I do a lot of things that affect the game positively.”

 

Trinity coach Mike Szabo called Ramser “a really good player” and “one of the finest young men I have had here.”

 

“I am really proud of him and so happy to see all his efforts being rewarded with a basketball scholarship,” Szabo wrote in an email. “What a great situation for him to play for Coach Davenport at one of the very best NCAA Division II schools in the country.”

 

Ramser is part of a loaded Shamrocks team that also includes University of Louisville commitment Raymond Spalding and Division I prospects D’Angelo West, Jax Levitch and Christian Thieneman, who also is a target of Bellarmine.

 

“(Ramser) is an excellent shooter and can also drive and finish at the rim,” Szabo said. “He plays unselfishly and is an excellent passer and can guard multiple positions. He continues to improve and has a great upside.”

 

Alabama-Huntsville, Williams College and Centre College are some of the other schools that recruited him.

 

Szabo said Ramser has a 3.9 grade-point average and scored 31 on the ACT exam.

Daniel Ramser is a very solid basketball player. I think he's about 6'5" now, shoots the ball well and works extremely hard. Played with the Louisville Prospects this summer. Not as well known as some others because of the wealth of talent in the senior class at Trinity. In fact, it is possible he may not start at Trinity this year (behind Spalding, Stafford, Thieneman, Levitch and the transfer from Mississippi). Would be a go to guy just about anywhere else. Definitely worthy of a scholarship to Bellarmine and will be a good addition for the Knights. Coach Davenport has followed him for a long time and knows exactly what he is getting with Daniel.

If Bell becomes coach-able at Boyle Co, he can be special and do great things for the team. He had a bad Jr year at Butler where he missed a lot of games which hurt the team because he did not accept the new coach.

 

If he isnt coachable then Coach Adams won't play him. IMO They would be a good team without out Bell, so I don't see Coach Adams ruining the team because of someone with a bad attitude. Hope that doesn't become the case because I believe they can be really good if the young man comes in with a good attitude and plays team ball.

Congrats to all the kids who made this list. Whether they belong on the list, or not, is indeed debatable... but to be a high school basketball player and see your name on a list like this is an accomplishment that is sure to make them feel good about themselves. Hooray for them!

I've seen Bell play a couple of games and talked to him directly before he played against my son's team one game this summer. He was a very nice, polite and sincere kid. Everything was "yes sir, no sir" and he was very approachable. I can't imagine him being a problem based on my encounter with him.

How is Deondre Jackson not on this list? He has outplayed more than most every kid on this list that he's played against (HS or AAU). I guess being tucked away in Campbell County, leading them to state as a junior, when no one picked them, has hurt his stock. Ludicrous....

 

I would say the exact same for Austin Schreck (Besides the state part...), especially in AAU ball.

 

These 2 both have multiple colleges after them.

 

I assume this list was based on a lot of opinion and hearsay... We all know what opinions are like.....
