March 7, 200620 yr As I understand it, if your community has a parish school, which many small communities do, the kids from that parish school would have to either commute to a large city for high school or sit out. We do not have that option in our community. You attend school in my county and it is at a public school or home schooling. BTW, I wonder how home schooling kids will be affected.
March 7, 200620 yr Call it what it is, Mr. Sears, not your prettied-up version of the truth. So I guess the state of Kentucky would not have had to deal with Tony Driver until he was a junior...that is simply TRAGIC.
March 7, 200620 yr So let me get this straight.... the local school does own my CHILDREN, because of where I choose to live? Seems so American and Constituional.
March 7, 200620 yr Author So let me get this straight.... the local school does own my CHILDREN, because of where I choose to live? Seems so American and Constituional. Well, that depends on how good of an athlete he/she is. They don't care about your academic abilities!
March 7, 200620 yr Slight correction. Some kids. For my kids, living in a rural community with only one MS and one HS in the county with no private school as a choice, it does not affect them in the least. Exactly, it will not have an effect on the elligibility of your players, nor will it do make any difference at all in your teams winning of championships and I thought the inequity in championships and lack of parity was the whole reason for this fiasco. There are lawyers state wide salivating.
March 7, 200620 yr This is a huge part of the problem...Sears and Co. are dipping their noses to things that do not essentially effect them, and it hinders others' kids, and yet they deem it acceptable...
March 7, 200620 yr Are areas going to defined alike thoughout the state? It seems from reading the CJ article that the diocese will be used in Louisville. However, its my understanding that traditional feeder schools will be used in NKY. That seems to be a big difference.

The Archdiocese of Louisville has 59 elementary and high schools serving more than 23,400 students :
March 7, 200620 yr Under the proposal, private schools with more than 300 students could draw their student-athletes from "affiliated schools" -- those with the same governing body, such as the Archdiocese of Louisville. Is this simply speculation or is it fact?
March 7, 200620 yr Quote: Public schools can draw from affiliated public schools, and from school systems with which they have non-resident student agreements. This would cover almost all public school districts. This would allow for any Boone County 7th and 8th grader to attend any public high school in Nky without penalty.Because they already have agreements with every distict in NKY. WOW sounds like it only punishes kids on one side of the issue.
March 7, 200620 yr Well, that depends on how good of an athlete he/she is. They don't care about your academic abilities! Wait until I explain this to "Little Jonathan"...he's gonna take his "yugi" cards and put a curse on some people
March 8, 200620 yr A truly awful decision ... for once, I'm hoping the court system becomes involved. I am totally shocked that you feel such away. Your convining auguments convince me that the courts should stay out of involvements in high school sports and now you say this. Makeup your mind and stand by your principles.
March 8, 200620 yr I have a very strong feeling that many, many exceptions will be included and "conveniently" none of them will apply to students going from public to private schools.
