While I hate that it came at the expense of the Cougars I am glad to see Boone snap a 17-game losing streak. No boys should have to go through that. Glad for those seniors that stuck it out. I can't imagine quitting before my senior year and then watching my boys (win or lose) go at it while I'm sitting in the stands.

 

And congrats to Coach G for his first W.

Jeff Martin showed me last night he can be a really, really good WR. Nice hands. Nice athlete.

 

A young team doesn't need moms and dads sniping and crying publicly. If they have a problem with the decision go knock on Coach Trosper's door instead of taking shots at a kid who got selected instead.

I was having some Melvin Miles flashbacks watching Marshall run in the first half. Kid played great.

Last night here in Ohio two teams broke streaks of their own. One team ended a 21 game losing streak, while the other broke a 48 game losing streak.

In fairness, Conner is young and small. They are fine on offense, other than the turnovers, but Conner and defense never belong in the same sentence.

By the chatter in the stands, there are a lot of fans not happy with the Coaches Qb decision, it's not only mine. My son is number 11, Jeff Martin, like everyone doesn't know that by now. He is by far a better Qb, he has more experience on the field as Qb. He also plays well as wide receiver, he is very fast and get open quick. My issue with the Qb is he can't throw the ball that far or he's afraid too, the short passes that were thrown were slow off of release or at the ground. My son was almost completely vertical to catch a pass that was thrown at the ground. There were plenty of times when open receivers were waiving their hands around and he decides to run the ball himself. Conner will struggle using Padgett as Qb. Coach Trosper's decision. We all have to live with it. "It's gonna be a long year." Quoted many parents in the stands.

Like I said in previous predictions, Conner chose the wrong guy for the Qb position and they wouldn't pull out a win with him. The kid is not confident enough to air the ball out, plenty of open receivers in the backfield but he throws to the side or runs him self. Conner will be lucky to pull out a win using him unless they move the end zones to the sidelines. Where is that freshman Qb everyone is talking about, that kid is not afraid to air it out. Why didn't Coach move him up? He is best Qb for the job especially if this is a rebuilding year for Conner. He has size speed and a nice arm, Not afraid to air it out. He would also have 4 years to turn things around for Conner.

Your constant complaining because little Johnny didn't get the starting QB position is starting to get pretty old.

 

I don't want to come off as a crotchety old man but we all know who you would prefer at QB. You've let us know from the second Drew Barkers high school career was over. I understand it's tough pill to swallow when your pick has been waiting for 4 years to step into the starting role and all and was not the chosen one after all that time, but maybe it's time to let it go. I hope you realize that when dads complain, their sons pick up on it also and affects their attitude also.

 

You don't want Jeff Martin going to practice every day with the chip on his shoulder that he thinks he is better and is just not in the supposed clique you talked about earlier and is the reason he's not starting at QB because that attitude will reflect on the field and he may become all about him instead of all about the team.

 

He will also start to resent Padgett and that will not be good for team

Chemistry also.

 

I'm hoping you can enjoy this season and just support the boys. After all this is the seniors last year, let them

Ick...this is the kind of thing that makes these guys who are coaching for pennies get out of the business...and I know a lot of people say "good riddance" but be careful what you wish for.

On a happier note, what a great night for Boone Co. I'd say looking at how they played against Cov. Cath at the beginning of the game and in this game, they're working they're way around to beginning to understand how the coaching staff wants them to play ball.

I think the QB for Conner last night did great. even though they lost he did mange to move the ball and score, under pressure. I would keep him there all year, and as far as number 11 not gettin to be the "star QB" well u know what they say about opinions........

Kyler Padgett was the best highlight for Conner. He stayed composed, ran the offense well, was very accurate with his passes and ran the ball well. Any high school team would be thrilled with Padgett at QB. #24 was very athletic and some really nice plays, Warwick boys had some nice plays as well. Offense was not the issue for Conner. Anyone know how many completions and passing yards for Padgett? He had some big numbers and I bet a sore arm. Padgett and #24 will be a nice 1-2 punch on offense. Who is #24?

 

Jerry Marshall ran the ball great! Anyone know how many rushing yards for Marshall? Amadou Diaw played a great game also and did it on both sides. That kid laid it on the line every play and even puked on a hand off for a run but continued running hard. You've got to love his effort.Tons of tackles and diving to deflect passes and running the ball. He's a tough tackle when he runs the ball. Jamar Lamb has some nice throws for big yards also. I kid named Rondo?? and Dylan Bishop had a couple nice catches. Boone got this win without Aaron Floyd and when they can him back in the mix it will be a big bonus. I noticed Aaron cheering his teammates on the sidelines and getting as pumped up as if he was out there. It's heartbreaking that he had to miss 2 games already his Senior year. You can tell he's just foaming at the mouth to get on the field. Can he play next next Friday? Also #29, I think his name is Schlarman for Boone had a couple unbelievable hits and Jesse Bowling was a beast on the line.

 

One stat I think I do know is who had leading rushing yards for Boone..their athletic trainer, Tom Burns! lol When someone goes down, he does a dead sprint to get to the athlete, and he had to deal with a lot of down players last night, mainly with cramps. That's total entertainment just watching him do his job. Burnsie is one focused trainer!!

BgC11 ... some more unsolicited advice. Read Hellbird's post and think about it. He has been exactly where you are. His son was a QB. His son became a receiver. His son is now playing college football. I only agree with Hellbird half the time at best, but he is giving you some great advice here.

 

Also, I will add, the people in the stands are not going to be honest with you. They like you and don't want to hurt their relationship with you. As a completely unbiased observer, my opinion is Padgett is the better choice at QB for Conner. Help your son have fun this season. Back off, tell him to do his best every day and have fun.
