Just talking with one of the Grant Co. dads, he said their was non stop lightning and you know whenever you see lightning it is an automatic 30 min delay. He said there was no way they could have went to overtime and got the game in etc.

 

I have no problem with ties in situations where it isn't a district game and you have thunder storms like that.

Settle it the way KHSAA used to in playoff ties. At one time the winner to advance was based on statistics. Another time it was decided based on each team getting a possession from a kickoff and whoever advanced the furthest was declared the winner.

 

There used to be some weird tie breaker rules for the playoffs.

But if they say it didn't happen, those schools could add another game during their off week to get to 10 games, whereas if you call it a tie (and in the case of some of these games, they barely played a quarter) the result stands and the team can't add an additional game. Big difference.

A win by either team would help with a potential tie breaker in points from the other teams wins.

 

If Middlesboro win and grant wins 5 games, then MBoro gets 5 points and in case of a tie in the dist it may push a team to the top.

 

So a game should be finished for points if anything

One thing I did hear about the game.

Grant County's coach Sipple handed the offensive play calling over to another coach, a coach who used to coach Freshman team and they apparently were pretty succesful at moving the ball. so things are looking up for Grant Co. and Coach Sipple is changing things for the better down there.

The no-game-ends-in-a-tie rule was instituted starting with the 1977 season.

Ironically, the team I covered (which hadn't had a tie in 15 years) had THREE overtime games that season.

From what I know the offense was ran by the former head middle school coach of grant county the team I hear you see now was ran by that middle school coach and was a play off team maybe that's why they did good new coach maybe that's what they need
