Collins has a pretty good football team but SK was just to much. Everybody will know what I am talking about next year when Highlands plays SK.

Even though they lost I think overall Collins has to be pleased with this game and it was a great learning experience for a young team. They had plenty of opportunities to make this a very close game, but their youth and inexperience showed at times. The first half was a bit rough, but if Collins plays the way the did in the 2nd half and continues to improve, it's going to be another fun season in Shelbyville. How many games will they win and how far will they go in the playoffs, I have no clue, but they certainly showed some flashes of being a good team (or was that just the lightning we saw from Lexington?). I saw a lot of encouraging things on both sides of the ball. Collins played quite a few freshman and kids playing their first year of high school football and they all held their own. I could name quite a few names of kids the Collins coaching staff has to be pleased with, especially in the first game of the year. Like I said, Collins showed some flashes of having a pretty good team. They may be young and inexperienced, but they are certainly talented, and you can be sure they will improve as the year goes on. At this point as a Collins fan you have plenty of reasons to be excited about this season.

 

As for Simon Kenton, they certainly have a good team, but I was not overly impressed. They aren't as good as they were last year at this point. They're going to have to get a lot better to if they want to make a deep run in the 6A playoffs. I have nothing but respect for Simon Kenton and I hope they have a great season, but I wasn't all that impressed. That's just my opinion though. They should still win a lot of games this year, but I'm not sure they have what it takes to get to the next level. I wouldn't mind if they proved me wrong though, that just makes Collins look better.

Only a Sophomore and beat the team Highlands can't! Wait till he is a Senior!

 

Did Highlands not beat Collins 2 years ago in the State Championship game with a running clock no less? If you are going to talk smack make sure you do not limit your comments to one game.

All I know is a ankle injury. I do know after halftime he was walking with a limp no crutches. So hopefully nothing serious. Prayers to Dillon and his family. Dillon is a really great kid.

Collins has made it to two championship games in 4yrs correct? Winning 1 state championship vs Highlands. How many has SK won or played in? Has Simon ever beaten highlands?

Just like last year when SK took down Collins and we didn't realize how good of a win it was until much later we won't know how this one is either. Could be a great win. Could be ehh.

Not until they schedule and beat CCHS and HHS. Both are scheduled next year.
